Good puzzler.

I seriously can't believe this is a demo and not a 15 dollar game. You just have to play this.

Hades 1 had its problems but was relatively enjoyable. Hades 2 has all those problems and then some! So since it's Early Access, I'm gonna tell you about them.

The upgrade system from Hades 1 is essentially back without significant changes. Sometimes in a run, you're made to choose between increasing your run's power level, or gaining currency to increase your permanent power level. This can and should make you feel like a chump, since if you choose to buff your run, it's gonna take more hours to finish maxing out your character. But, if you choose the permanent currency, you're worsening your run, plus if you'd already maxed your character, you wouldn't have been tempted. So you gotta waste ten or twenty hours finishing up the grind until you can actually play the game. By the way, once you've done that, you'll still get RNG rolls that give you useless permanent currency that will now feel even worse.

Some people will read that and think, "Actually, I think Hades' upgrade system was fine, so nothing I just heard really bothers me." That's fair. I have a pretty low tolerance level when I think my time's being wasted, but I understand some people enjoy permanent progression in these types of games. So buckle up, because it gets worse.

After clearing a stratum, you get a 20% damage taken increase which ramps further upward each encounter until it kills you. As far as I can tell, this happens the first three times you clear a stratum in an attempt to ensure you watch all the cutscenes and dialogue roughly in the dev's intended order. I think it's dumb as hell. If I can sequence break the game through pure skill, that should be applauded, not punished. But some people seem to like the fact that their first several runs are absolutely doomed until they get their 3x power boost from grinding, and if that's you, then you should probably get this game.
