Half-life is considered one of the best if not the best shooter games of all time. It has had updates of sorts with half life source but never a full remake until now with Black Mesa. Crowbar Collective took on a massive undertaking with recreating the game using the source engine but the level of detail shows and the attention they put into the game was like that of an actual official valve title. The visuals and gameplay are much improved over the original but still retain some of the classic aesthetics from the guns and characters up to the levels/environments themselves. The game has receive alot of care and it shows so the praise it has received is much deserved. A game that started off as a mod and now a standalone title and decades In the making, really goes to show what a dedicated team can achieve and in this case Black Mesa was definitely worth the weight ;).

This game is some of the most fun Ive had, many hours played and even more with the addition of mods. Fallout: New Vegas on its own is a great game that offers so much in terms of replayablity and amazingly fun gameplay, but it shines even more with mods. The mods further enhance the experience, but even without them the game is solid. New Vegas continues on with the game mechanics introduced in Fallout 3 and further fleshes them and brings in some great new features, most notably a crafting system that allows you to create your weapons, ammo, and other items.

This time the game centers around the west coast, most notably Las Vegas and the Mojave desert. You take on the role of the Courier, a nameless new wanderer of the post apocalyptic wasteland after he/she was left for dead. From here you start your quest for revenge and along the way you will take part in a greater plot for the future of New Vegas and all of its inhabitants. Play as the good guy, the bad guy, or anything in between. Your choices you make will affect the outcomes of the story in many ways, both positive and negative. So many main quests and side quests can be done in many ways whether you want to play stealthily or go in guns blazing no encounter will ever play out the same way, this gives it so much replayability.

Overall the game is great, but not without its fair share of faults. The game engine, as used with Fallout 3 is showing its age and as a result does not offer the best visuals, but the game is not bad to look at and can be enhanced through mods. The game does however suffer from many bugs and glitches, many that have been sorted out through fan made patches, so the game runs far better than it once did. The pros far outweigh the cons that New Vegas may offer and if you can look past all of this you're in for an amazing and fun gaming experience.
