This game was made for me. Turn based combat, light fantasy historical setting, and, most importantly, getting to dress up your little dudes (though I wish appearance customization was unlocked from the start instead of pretty far into the game). Seems like the bugs are gone (at least for me), and a big complaint from a lot of people, the mission timers, can now be changed or turned off which is awesome. I hope this team makes more games

Ignore the time played, I have a few thousand hours in the pre steam version. Great game, there really is nothing else like it out there. The big draw and unique feature is that every player has a squad of AI bots with them. This differentiates this game from other multiplayer shooters in some huge ways. Firstly, the battles feel appropriately large and crowded. This will not be like other tactical shooters where you see one or two enemies every few minutes and end a game with 5 kills. You will be killing players and bots in large numbers, keeping the game really fun and fast. This also means that weapons like mgs, smgs, flamethrowers, and vehicles have appropriate weaknesses and strengths. In a pixel hunting tense game bolt action rifles are king, but here you often come around a corner and can hose down five enemies with an smg, which might happen once ever in hell let loose. It also makes deaths far less frustrating, as you just jump to another squad member when you die, so you won't have the experience of running for 5 minutes to get to the action, getting killed immediately by a sniper you don't see, then repeating. The game has a feeling somewhere between arcadey and tactical, and every class of weapon is viable and useful. Does the game have problems? For sure, the single biggest being the enormous grind. It won't be too bad if you have a premium account, but that is by no means necessary. I have almost every item unlocked for all the factions, and I have never had a premium account (just the battlepass I paid $10 for once, which always gave me enough gold to buy the next one). Devs are also extremely responsive to the community and patches and updates come out all the time. This game is definitely worth your time if you want a fun, arcadey, ww2 multiplayer shooter.

Shows what creativity and great writing can accomplish. Took me a long time to advance past the title screen because the music was so good

Incredible game, absolutely unreal amount of content and replayability. Warhammer Fantasy is the setting Total War has been waiting for. Campaigns with different factions play like totally different games, and even in some cases legendary lords within the same faction. The total war community is (or should be) very happy with the state of the game post Thrones of Decay for those who've been in this a long time. Can't see myself not coming back to this game anytime soon

Only played this a bit so far, but I'm ready for the sequel and the tie-in novel.

This is to Aliens as Isolation is to Alien. This is an excellent genre blending game that captures the feel of Aliens perfectly.

First be aware that this is a difficult game. I finished it with just over 500 player deaths (something the game helpfully and/or cheekily keeps track of for you) in about a seven or eight hour first playthrough. It requires total precision and often memorization of how to survive some longer routes. Think challenge levels for Mario maker style. So right away, this will be a turn off for some; if you hate repeating sections over and over (and over) then this is definitely not the game for you. If you find yourself frustrated by repeated deaths, steer clear.
Will those caveats out of the way, this is a really wonderful game. The first thing you'll notice are the aesthetics: pixel art that perfectly walks the line between comical and horrific, while still being totally clear and readable. A fantastic supernatural historical setting, which I appreciate enormously. The zombies, drunks, demons, and various other horrors you will encounter are lovingly made and really set the mood, while the backgrounds keep you grounded. There are some truly inspired designs and concepts among the enemies and levels, and make it worth the difficulty to see what is next. Sound is fine, with a few positive stand outs here and there.
The (crucial) counterpoint to the above mentioned difficulty is that the controls feel completely precise, I never felt like any death was the fault of the game or how it handled. This is too often overlooked in 2D games, and is an entirely necessary component of a difficult game. The game can be as hard as you like, so long as it is fair, and this one succeeds. The slow to reload but powerful musket is a nice gameplay element, and adds a feeling of tactical decision making.
As to the story, I didn't really understand what was happening or what led to all this madness, just that the King of France sent me to kill the Moon King, but narrative isn't as important as just how evocative the setting is. It felt true to some of the apocalyptic fantasies of the age, to the point it almost feels like playing through an Hieronymus Bosch painting. If there were miniatures of the characters in this game, I would buy and paint them all.
All told, I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who thinks it may look interesting, with the strong warning that it is quite difficult and can be frustrating. It can certainly be beaten with enough time, but expect to repeat some parts many, many times. Really looking forward to what this (two person?) team makes next.

Good fun, nifty, unique vibe, and doles out the scares at just the right pace. Got if for a couple of bucks and played enough to get all the achievements

Overall a fun left 4 dead-alike, though more of a budget title than its inspiration or back 4 blood for that matter. If you are looking for a fun coop shooter, I would say wait for a sale on this one. If you are a fan of the Alien series though, then you'll definitely get a lot more fun out of this. The marines look cool, the (movie) guns sound right, and the xenomorphs provide a good challenge, along with a few other enemy types. There is a surprising amount of lore for the extended universe if that's your thing, which was a pleasant surprise for me. The game definitely feels like an A or AA title, so don't expect a triple A experience. The graphics are serviceable and look fine, though the sound design is quite weak. The non-movie guns generally sound extremely anemic, and the game is missing the ambient noise that can effectively create atmosphere (as in Alien: Isolation). Friendly bot AI is pretty bad, but finding a team is pretty easy if you don't have friends. As is often the case with these games, some weapons and classes are far worse or better than others, but this really doesn't matter as a PVE game doesn't have to be balanced as far as I'm concerned. The devs seem responsive to the community and are implementing features the fans are asking for, so that's encouraging for the long run. For some reason there is no ingame chat, either voice or text, but hopefully that will be implemented eventually. I expect this is a game I'll keep coming back to, and which I hope will continue to get updates and content.

TLDR; buy game on sale if you like coop shooters, full price if you also like the franchise
