I bought Civ BE on day one or two of release, and felt the sting right away. From that moment on I promised myself to wait for a few weeks before buying any Civ game.

It turns out the temptation was too great, I bought Civ VI on day one. On hour one even. And after playing it for 60 odd hours I can safely say that I don't regret that decision.

This game is all a Civ game should be. Separation of Tech and Civics tree makes my time playing it feels like an exploration, finding out which route would work best for which situation. The district system is wonderful, and after an AI stole a victory on my first game (religious victory), it made me realize that the new ways to play this game is abundant and that's awesome!

Playing this game is one of the best gaming experience I'm having in a long while. The visuals, music, narrative just hold together spectacularly. Beautiful landscapes any time of the day makes travelling from one village to another exciting. I even often find myself wandering the wilderness just because. Character design and animation are excellent too, although I still feel am at uncanny valley at times.

The music adds to the ambience nicely. Unique enough to set the tone of the game, but subtle enough to just blend into the background. Sound effects and voice acting are top notch.

And the story, whoa boy the story. Every quests ( be it main or side quests), tomes, books, notes on the note boards add richness to the tapestry of this universe. Even dead bodies splayed on the side of the road or around a monster's nest sometimes have something to add to the lore.

I can see myself finishing this game and playing it again for the second time.
