It looked pretty enough, especially the outside parts like the boat through the canals and the coast road and bridge areas. Also, that you can play through and get all of the HL2 achievements again (as this is standalone to HL2) is a nice bonus / motivator. And since it's free for anyone who owns HL2, you can't beat the price.

Definitely worth grabbing if you've been looking for some excuse to revisit one of the best games ever made. And it still holds up well enough, despite its age. :)

This game is simply wonderful. Beautiful art style, awesome details in the world, especially with a lot of nifty little things that should charm anyone who loves the sea and sea life, and simply outstanding music.

Though there are some parts that seem to drag, because of the huge size of some of the areas, overall the game is excellent. Fair warning: if you don't like exploring and figuring out what you need to do, then you will not like this game, because that sort of thing is what it's all about. The game encourages experimentation and exploration, and it does not hold your hand much at all.

So, if you are the sort that enjoys that kind of game, then getting this should be a no brainer. It's a beautiful game. :)

Do you want to play a mindless action movie from the 80s? Then Just Cause 2 just might be the game for you. There is a plot to the game, but that plot mainly revolves around causing chaos by BLOWING UP ALL THE THINGS!

It's an open sandbox with a huge area and a lot to do. Almost too much to do. If you are the type that loves trying to get 100% achievements in a game, then get ready to dedicate some serious time to doing that.

But, one of the great things about this game is that, since the plot is fairly weak (seriously, 80s action movie quality), it's not necessary to buckle in and try to complete it quickly. Get through the intro missions, and then things can settle a bit. Take it in smaller doses whenever you feel like blowing stuff up, and it'll carry you for a long time with many tens of hours of entertainment. And that's not including adding any mods like the multiplayer mod, which probably extends the already long playability of the game even further.

A pretty fun game. Often on sale for insanely cheap. Buying this is a no brainer. :)

This game isn't really anything special or great. Weak voice acting, mediocre plot, average gunplay and movement, standard on rails zombie shooter. Yet despite that, it is still pretty fun and worth a couple of bucks. Also great if you enjoy going for achievements. If you are the type that enjoys seeing an achievement unlock and can use that as motivation when the game gets rather repetitive, then this will work well for you.

A lot of the achievements are kind of giveaways for continuing the story or completing levels in other game modes, but the ones that are challenges are just challenging enough to be fun, but not so hard you get frustrated trying to achieve them. The hardest one, in my opinion (and which I'm still working on as of writing this) is the massive grind to kill 10000 zombies, but even that isn't so bad, as one of the "Biohazard" (kill some number of waves of zombies) levels offers a total of 335 zombies to kill each time, so you can either just do the grind, or pop in whenever you feel like it to polish off a chunk until the achievement pops.

In short, the game was fun enough to keep my attention, has decent achievements to add a bit more motivation, and was definitely worth the very low price I got it for as part of a bundle. I'd say it's worth it at regular price if you are looking for something not-at-all-deep to play, and it's a definite buy on sale. :)

I wanted to like this game. I really did. It takes place in amazing environments, the characters seem interesting enough, and the story seems interesting as well. But, frankly, the gameplay is terrible, mainly because of the ridiculously awful camera controls. It doesn't matter if you are using a gamepad or kb/m, the game has it's own ideas about what it wants to do with the camera and it will fight your control of it every step of the way.

The worst is in combat, where the camera will often shift angles automatically, usually to angles more about making your character look cool than about actually giving you a decent view of or angle of attack on your enemies. Many times this stupidity will cause your attacks to go completely in the wrong direction, which really sucks for charged attacks.

Seriously, it's just not fun when you have to fight the camera just as much as you fight the bad guys, and you have to do so while trying to fight the bad guys.

If the camera were better under user control without the game randomly shifting it around based on whatever automatic rules it follows, then I would probably be willing to recommend this game. But as it is now, with utter crap camera control making combat pretty much impossible, or at least insanely frustrating, at times, I cannot recommend this game.

If you liked Borderlands 2 and are looking for more, then you will probably like this (pre)sequel. In most ways, it feels like additional content for BL2, rather than a whole new game, but that's okay because one of the main draws of Borderlands is the style and feel of the game. Basically, this doesn't go changing much from the formula of Borderlands 2. And that's just fine. (mostly; see my review for BL2 to see my minor issues with that game)

The new environments and new wrinkles thereof (lack of atmosphere, different gravity), as well as new laser and cryo weapons, are all pluses, the voice acting of the main characters is still solid, and the new characters are interesting enough. The only minor quibble here is that the humor just doesn't seem to be hitting me as well as it did in BL2. It's still pretty funny, mind you, but I find I'm having fewer guffaw moments with more chuckles or smirks instead. Also, some of the non-main NPC characters and voices are pretty terrible; there's a weird mix of real Australian accents, horrendous fake Australian accents, (possibly a few) real British accents of various types, and some horrendously fake British accents. It can be pretty jarring sometimes.

Still, overall it's pretty good, and worth it IMHO. If full release price seems to be too much (FWIW, I got this super cheap using GMG's VIP deal and a bunch of credit from Playfire), then just wait for a sale. Keep playing BL2 to fill in the time until this hits a price that you feel would be worth it for a huge, full on, ~30 hour extension of BL2 but with more stuff. :)

TL;DR - Definitely worth it when it hits sale prices if you love Borderlands; may be worth it at release price if you are seriously jonesing for more Borderlands 2.

This game is a lot more fun than it has any right to be. Top-down view, drive around the city (and other environments in the different game modes) and slaughter zombies. That doesn't sound like it should be anything special, but this game pulls it off especially well to make it a fun game.

It's definitely a great little time waster, and definitely worth getting. :)

This game is really not very good. It wants to be "Left 4 Dead" right up to having 4 possible playable characters and coop, but there are some big differences, and it's nowhere near as fun. Here are some of the problems with the game:

1.) None of the characters are particularly likeable.
2.) When you are playing solo, none of the other characters are there. By itself, this wouldn't really be a problem, except in cut-scenes and when interacting with NPCs, they treat you as a group ("I'm so glad to see you guys..." type dialog), which pretty much shatters immersion.
3.) Weapons and weapons handling are meh. None of the weapons are particularly satisfying. Fighting with them is not all that exciting. Sometimes they degrade at a ridiculous rate.
4.) The story is meh. Remember that awesome trailer for this game which made it seem like this game would contain some emotional gut-punching? Yeah, there's none of that.
5.) Driving sucks.
6.) Game options are horribly broken, and the only way to tweak a lot of settings that should be accessible from the in-game menu is by running the 3rd party Dead Island Helper app.

Honestly, I don't recommend wasting your time with this one. There are better zombie games out there with more likeable characters, more interesting environments, and more fun gameplay.

Deus Ex: HR is a really good game for the most part, and the improvements made to the Director's Cut, like the alternate means of fighting boss fights, definitely add to this. Whether you want to run and gun or you want to sneak around and not be seen by anyone in the entire game, or anything in between, there are a lot of ways to play the game. And it's pretty fun, though you may find that some parts drag a bit.

Only two minor annoyances:
1.) The switching between FPS and 3PS as you move into and out of cover can be jarring. Honestly, I rather wish they'd made the whole game 3rd person, or at least offered it as an option.

2.) Character animations are often weird and jerky during cut-scenes; it's like they were trying to have the characters make emphatic gestures with their dialogue but just didn't pull it off very well.

Other than those very minor things, everything else is pretty good. The story is enjoyable, the environments can be interesting, the combat is solid, the voice acting is acceptable. A game worth getting. Or, in the case of those who already own the non-director's-cut version, worth the few bucks to upgrade to this version.

This game is a yes if it's on sale. It's basically a remake of Fl0w (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(video_game)) but with more levels and stuff (at least compared to the original free Flash version of Fl0w). It's pretty good, I guess, and sometimes it's really pretty. But... it's a little less soothing and and chill than Fl0w was. This game does seem to do more and be more than Fl0w, but it's just lacking that same feeling of Fl0w.

Overall, it's not bad, and I can recommend it to pass the time. But, for those of you who are expecting Fl0w, just be aware that you might not quite be getting it with this.
