While not as innovative or long-lasting as the developers' previous titles, Kaizen: A Factory Story does feel like nice warm-up for the Coincidence Team under their new banner. I recommend picking it up if you want a bite-sized, Zach-like experience and I look forward, as always, to what the team does next!

I've loved every Zachtronics game I've played, but I never seem to finish them. The puzzles and mechanics always build on previous teachings so the late-game puzzles require a lot of time and thought - a challange I've always still enjoyed but never been able to overcome. Opus Magnum made finally crossing that finish line much easier through its presentation and structure. It blends the followable, mechanical interface of Spacechem with the simple-to-understand-and-execute objectives of TIS-100 or SHENZEN I/O without you needing to have a .pdf open in another window.

On top of that, it forgoes any notion of psuedoscience (à la Spacechem) and instead builds a world grounded in its own fiction. The game (and therefore story) isn't terribly long but it accomplishes some admirable worldbuilding and character development in that time.

Great all around, Zachtronics continues to deliver!
