Every time autumn comes, I think of this game, it impacted me that much. It's been with me for years.

Night in the Woods will be relatable to any young adult who's felt lost even for a short while, especially if you're from a small town. The bittersweet melancholy this game presents is so alluring, its almost allegorical for the season of autumn itself - between the loud and fun summer, and the quiet and depressing winter. Its duality is shown here in a very emotional experience if you're ready and open to connect with it.

The atmosphere and character writing alone is intoxicating, especially when paired with graphics that are simple yet beautiful, but the darker side of the story is gripping too - it gives classic 80s horror mystery vibes.

Talking strictly game aspects, the gameplay is simple but very polished - classic side-scroller stuff. It also is separated by fun minigames which pop up frequently. The UI and presentation is all extremely well done and coherent, and shows other developers how to use the Unity engine properly.

Most of this review is based on personal connection to the game, but if you think it looks pretty from the pictures - it is.
