I really enjoyed Wasteland 3 story and its whacky characters. The use of skill checks also made more sense to me than say D:OS game that I played. One thing I really loved was how there were no carry weight, unrealistic? Sure, but so is carrying 300 kg/lbs on you whereever you go or whatever carry weight it is. You still have to manage and sell the junks you don't need anyway. However, I wished they add a sub category in the inventory; for example, under weapons -> blade weapon | hand guns | heavy machine guns | etc.

On the turn-based battle, it is different in that your team all go first, before the enemy, then allies. There is slight strategy involved but not too much that it became a pain. However, I did not like the animal companions and random allies system too much, I think it makes the game way easy. I didn't know going into the game, so I only had 1 animal companion in the early half of the game. But by the end, my squad, except the melee, all had animal companions which can take out 3-4 guys on their turn.

Overall, I'd give this game 4/5, it's enjoyable with some minor gameplay issues I outlined above. The game is also quite buggy, I think I had to reset several times throughout my playthrough so save often!

Finally, for DLC, I'd say Battle of Steeltown is a must get, interesting addition of the pacifist weaponry tie in with the story nicely and I did have to make a tough choice at the end. I did not like Cult of Holy Detonation, both gameplay and story wise.

Monster Hunter World filled a very nice niche of action RPG that I love, which requires both skill and items to progress. The worlds and maps are super detailed, lively, and believable. Each of the 14 weapon type is so intricate, easy to pick up, but hard to master. If I get bored of using the bow, I simply switch to a melee weapon like a longsword and now it's a whole new game, and I have to approach the monsters differently.

The monsters are, of course, the highlights because they are ferocious. Each monster has its own tells and quirks for you to look out for and master. The first encounter may be intimidating and you may feel that the monster is unfair, but after a couple of hunts, you will be amazed just how fast you can hunt that monster and wonder why you even struggled in the first place.

Killing monsters won't be as much fun if there's nothing to gain from it. But there are! Both weapons and armors are fun to collect and craft and provide different bonuses and useful skills for your next hunt. I'll be honest, one of the biggest negatives for me with the game is the lack of unique and interesting designs that can be seen from older generation games like MH4U or MHGenU. Nevertheless, the added benefits of crafting a single set of armors for both gunner weapons and blademaster weapons allow for experimentation with the cost of varied design.

Overall, I recommend this game to anyone, and especially to a group of friends because hunting monsters are easier and more fun with 3 other hunters.

Excellent game!

This is my first XCOM games (I've heard there are classic installments before this game) and it's great so far. There is something about the dire reality that your favorite soldier can be KIA at any moment makes the game a bit personal. I've failed a few times but the game is never unfair.

Good tactical and strategic placement of your specialized troops can make a very difficult mission a walk in the park; on the other hand, bad placement and an easy abduction mission may cost you your entire team of elite soldiers. However, there are also plenty of luck needed for this game. Missing a shot with 90% aim can make you scream at the screen in frustration, but getting a crit with only 32% create amazing story and change the dynamic of every mission and every game.

It doesn't hurt that the game looks and runs great. There are few glitches during reaction shot or slo-mo but it's not game breaking, and sometimes quite hilarious.

I would recommend this game to anyone! I put off buying it when it first released because I wasn't sure how much I would like this type of game, but now I know how much I've missed out.
