With the newest DLC upcoming, I think its a great game to have. Even after 1401 hours (at the time of this review) I feel no closure. There is a ton of content to play, and a ton of story to unravel, there are still so many dinosaurs to discover, bases to build and tons of guns and amours to craft.

To new comers: The learning curve is hard. There are a bunch of things that will kill you mercilessly at the beginning of the game but don't give up. Once you get the fundamentals right it gets real fun. Charging in head on is never a good idea. Always strategize your moves and remember its okay to not fight a battle so that you live to fight another day.

PVP seems imbalanced to me personally and there are so many better PVP games out there. So start with your dinosaurs on single player at high rates so that you unravel the story and learn the mechanics of the game. Then hop on to one of the officials or unofficial PVE servers and find tribemates and allies to enjoy co-op PVE environment. Unofficial servers have admins and they run mods. Mods add a whole new aspect to the game.

Last bit of advice: The genre of this game is that of a slow long term game. If you like bang-bang and move on, this game might not be your thing.

This game has a lot of history both literally and metaphorically.
One of the best games i have ever played. Even though the game is a decade old, still none of them has the character that AOE has. The game that paved the way for RTS genre.
