It feels bad to give this a negative review, because it's entirely within the devs abillity to make this game great. The game is stable and runs very well. Unfortunately it is barebones, and it has it's issues. Unless something is done its unlikely the game will have any staying power. The game needs to bring a little more to the table.

A good tower defense centric game manages to distract the player from the fact that he's killing the same monsters on the same map for hours. Even if you slap on the most common tropes from this niche genre, you will have exponentially increased the replayabillity and quality of your game. To name a few:

Itemization for the character or towers themselves. The stat system is simplistic and the artefacts are uninteresting. We've seen this before, and other games do it better. They might as well not be there.
End-goal/end-game, being able to work towards a goal even after beating the main content lends the game incredible replayability if done correctly (look at what dd1 did with its nightmare difficulty mode).
separate difficulty multipliers and effects. For challenge runs, masochists, and possibly streamers.
Smarter/variant enemies. Bullet sponges are not engaging, gear checks are fine. Strike a balance.

Learn from what the other great td games have done before.

A TD RPG game (from 2011) is Dungeon Defenders 1, which featured a rock solid equipment system with upgrading, trading and selling, a good hub system which gave the game almost like an instanced mmo quality to it. The final difficulty setting changed the game up completely(hundreds of hours of content after the main campaign), and required intense teamwork and working on upgrading great gear to overcome.

On a final note,
you could have a community competition for writing dialogue and/or lore. They aren't good. Expository dialogue is grating.

People are understandably bitter about the way konami is handling the metal gear series. This seems to be clouding many reviews.

You cant fault someone for not enjoying the first few hours this game has to offer. To be completely honest, the game is a slog at the start. Unfortunately most the reviews I've seen are written by people who haven't played past this and seen where this game really shines.

In the beginning you have to scramble to get enough food and water to keep you going between the missions, none of the loot is particularly interesting (the spears in particular are horribly boring to use). Story and characters are barely serviceable.

This all makes for a very poor first impression.

Later on you eat and drink for the buffs you get(I put the entire Dite hedgehog population in soups), and you never run out. The loot is cooler and you finally find sh*t you'd actually want to craft, which is expensive to craft, making it so finding that one particular material you need to upgrade your axe, exciting. The coop missions use a shared pool of materials for crafting, so you actually have to scramble to get what you need, making it hectic and rewarding when you get your defenses up and running.

Play it with friends, its actually quite neat.

I wasn't hyped for metal gear survive, I am now.
Forget the title and you'll find this to be a very pleasant game. I'm glad they're putting the fox engine to use.

This is an arcade-y kind of zombie base builder. In the beta I haven't seen anything that hasn't been done before in some shape or form, but the game just executes it all very elegantly.

Subnautica's core strength is in its sound design. It is in my opinion what makes their game.
Try playing with a headset and without, then with sound and without.
A unity game has no right being this immersive.

Unknown Worlds Entertainment just fired their sound designer over twitter posts they deemed offensive.

Imagine if the people they were feeling that disgusting brand of patronizing second-hand offence for, actually played games, maybe they'd be worth pandering for. They don't.

A talented man just lost his job for no good discernible reason. I don't wish to condone this sort of idiotic behaviour.

It had some issues redeeming at launch.

Great value if you buy the game with it, trust me, you'll need some of those things.

EDIT: fixed!

Yes, lets all pour on negative reviews for lack of mouse support,

Let's completely disregard

- completely smooth at all times at 60 fps
- fantastic monster hunter-esque gameplay, something that's severely lacking on pc
- tight controls on controller
- online co-op, fight badass monsters with your buddies
