Couldn't install the game on Ubisoft's own client so I came here. Launch the game on Steam and it opens up the Ubisoft client.. okay. Clicked "play online" and it fails to connect and asks me if I want to connect through another third-party account thing. Why am I even trying to play this? Guess I was just curious to learn why Ubisoft bought a small ugly 2D indie game made with stock assets. Must be some kind of cash-cow exploiting kids I suppose, but how do they even start playing it?

A bargain bin classic! What it lacks in quality and refinement it makes up for with charm and pure fun. Sadly, the PC version lacks split-screen co-op, which is the best feature.

Somehow relaxing, cozy and disturbing all at the same time.

Charming short but sweet little puzzle game.

Good demonstration of how to create a "game" out of almost nothing. Read notes to get hints for codes you need to type into a keyboard to unlock more rooms with more notes. Repeat until done. It's like a proof of concept aspiring indie devs might find useful, but mostly a waste of time for actual gamers.

Cheesy Grinding Goodness
If you're looking for a deep experience with lots of player freedom, you'll be very disappointed. The world map serves only as a confusing level selection screen, gathering resources is needlessly tedious, quests are difficult to track, and combat is absurdly unbalanced. So Why do I actually recommend it? Well if you're willing to cheese the systems to hell, it can be an amusing distraction to chill out to while listening to music or a podcast.

Pro tip: Upgrade all throwing skills first and use it as your primary means of attack! Also build and upgrade the tavern as soon as possible, then hire high damage wizards (or other ranged fighters if none available) and then go steamroll all enemies while staying at a safe distance yourself. You're welcome 😎.

Combat is solid but lacks variety, leading to eventual boredom. Permanent upgrades serve only as a barrier to progress, that can only be overcome by grinding and dying many, many times. And most frustrating of all is the fact enemies can see and shoot you from any distance. While you can only see what's within the camera view. Which means they have an unfair advantage in combat.

Some kind of Trip

The grotesquely charming clay like models are the main attraction here. The gameplay itself has various issues. Such as very stiff combat (cannot move while attacking), lack of feedback (hard to tell if you're actually hitting anything), strange key bindings (C to interact?) and various bugs and glitches. But if you are at all interested in bizarre little indie games with unique art styles, then it's totally worth checking out for the somewhat surreal experience.

Windward is essentially the trading and ship combat elements of Sid Meier's Pirates! streamlined and expanded upon with features like procedurally generated maps and online multiplayer.

When I first played this game I didn't like it because all the charm of Sid Meier's game had been stripped out, making it feel very generic. But after revisiting it again I can now see that it's actually an enjoyable and relaxing game in its own right. Just don't expect it to give you those classic swashbuckling vibes.
