TL:DR; Buy it on sale if you've played the original, don't buy it if you haven't.

The original XIII was much more engaging than this outing, and whilst it's nice to see updates have been made from the shambolic launch, at the end of the day, this doesn't really hold up to modern gaming standards for an FPS narrative game. The comic book feel from the original is attempted with an update, but the charm is lost and characters look a little too 'Fortnite-y' for the aesthetic of the original Cel Shading.

If you want a nostalgia fix, it'll do the job; and the addition of aiming down sights makes the game much less finicky than if you played it on a console way back when.

If you haven't played the original XIII and know nothing of the narrative, I think people would feel short-changed by this offering. On medium difficulty the game can be cleared pretty easily in 7 hours or less, and in fairness, that's reflected in the price compared to a AAA Studio game, There were plenty of little things that could have been more polished for a modern update (e.g. static computers screens inworld being animated, the skybox and waters in the last mission could have been more dynamic and less bland). It feels like wasted potential.

I don't regret purchasing it, but it's difficult to recommend for anyone else.
