Better than the Steelwool FNaF games.

My Thoughts on Secret of the Mimic:

My Initial Impressions:
Just like Security Breach Steelwool fails at crafting/adding to the FNaF storyline. They also fail at the atmosphere of the game, which was a issue in SB but they did take a semi-step forward with that in Ruin. I guess they forgot that though. I was scared with Steelwool messing with the earlier FNaF timeline and they succeeded in disappointing me.

The Horror:
Just like all of the Steelwool FNaF games there is nothing scary in this game aside from its bugs. I felt 0 tension or panic as I played this game. I get FNaF isn't supposed to be on the levels of Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but the original 6 games were still able to make you jump in your seat or panic (especially FNaF 4).

The Story from my understanding:
The story follows a Fazbear employee named Arnold who is the protagonist for this game. The game takes place somewhere in the 1970s. You are set to find the schematics of the Mimic and are put on a goose chase to level up your Data Driver (a Keycard) permissions to get into Edwin Murray's office in his massive facility. On you way of doing that you learn the story of Edwin and it again to me just overall messes with the timeline in a negative way. I honestly wasn't surprised as Steelwool has proven with SB that they suck at crafting a narrative/adding to the FNaF storyline. So basically you learn the William and Henry contracted Edwin to make the animatronics, instead of what was originally thought from the 6 mainline games. So William and Henry ran Edwin into bankruptcy to steal his work as their own. That's the main story addition in this game that matters for the FNaF timeline. It again has changed something in the past that didn't need changed/was pretty much established that Henry and William made the animatronics in the original games. Overall this makes me really question Sister Location cause if William and Henry don't make animatronics then how do the Sister Location animatronics exist/come to be?

Game Advertising & Jackie:
Why was Jackie the main advertising point if they show up once. This is again a repeat of Vanny from SB where they show up once do about almost nothing and that's it. Why advertise them instead of just throwing the Mimic in all the promotional pieces?

Overall Verdict:
Just like SB if you are very satisfied with FNaF 1-6 + UCN and how everything was wrapped up from that point in our understanding of the story, just stick to those. If you are a diehard fan like me honestly I'd suggest to get this on sale as 6 hours of gameplay that does get repetitive for $40 is unacceptable. Sadly though with Secret of the Mimic I personally will be exiting the game franchise side of FNaF. Steelwools games to me just don't compare or live up to Scott's original 6 games. I overall have left the modern FNaF games more and more disappointed than happy.
