Man this slaps

The story has infinitely less impact than either of the two games before it. It is so forgettable that I already forgot most of the fluff that goes on in the latter half. The ending is pretty lackluster, the English voice dub is atrocious, and the character animation is pretty corny. The atmosphere is NOT anything like it was before. On to weapons: it keeps you from using some of the most iconic ones until the latter 1/3 of the game. Your ammo pool is capped, and you have to craft more ammo due to the artificial scarcity this creates. The game allows you to store little to no shotgun ammo on you aswell, so you're not going to get to have hardly any fun with the shambler, practically the bread-and-butter weapon of the series. As of right now, there are no mods to fix this problem.

Buy on sale, and play in a different language (I thought the Japanese was both comedic and particularly serious sounding) and then it's fine, I guess. At full price? Not really worth it to me.

It's had a while to cook, and this is by far the best, most detail-oriented, most moddable, most painstakingly developed and detailed early access game I have ever played. Looking back and seeing that it's $20 amazes me for the amount of enjoyment I've gotten out of it. I am genuinely *extremely* excited for every bit of new content the devs have planned, and their news and devlogs share a generous amount of information to let you know what to expect. There's a TON of ways to play this game, and it's low-res enough that things can and are modded in with absolute ease and abundance. Interior decoration, car collecting, off-grid survival, mall-raiding, fort-building, you can do it all. This game is basically a life simulator, and I get far too much enjoyment out of doing the extremely mundane. I think that, not only is this gonna be a banger when it comes out of early access, I forsee a lot of creative ways this game can be turned into unique and cool multiplayer experiences.

Eager to see this game continue to grow. Every in-game system overhaul is going to make it that much better.
