Hades is Supergiant's perfected blend of entertaining gameplay and compelling storyline. This is the only roguelike I know that contains the most wonderful characterisation, and this merit is honed through the unique adaptation of Greek mythology. The intertwining stories and character interactions coupled with a diverse array of weapons and challenging mechanics also adds to the replayability of this already sufficiently long game for its price. Last but not least, I want Megaera to step on me.

When it comes to top tier narratives, worldbuilding, graphics, voice acting and a one of a kind physics engine, Control ticks all the boxes. I walked in with no knowledge of the game or supernatural fiction but walked away with numerous thoughts on its setting and characters. Being an introverted person, Jesse Faden is one of the best protagonists I have played as with how relatable her thought monologues and occasional quips are.

The negatives are that combat can get slightly dull and repetitive as the best choice moves for damage are limited and the game (despite certain repeatable elements) lacks replayability at least to me. But if you are looking for a world to be immersed in and a beautiful game to admire, this is the Game/Diversion for you.

A surprisingly in-depth story that imparts a few cuts of life wisdom with a dash of dating sim cuteness

Taking a darker and more depressing tone, Life is Strange 2 is on par if not better than the first game in terms of dramatic storytelling and tells a gripping tale about family, friends, sacrifice and perseverance. It seems that people are put off by the societal commentary and the grittier storyline but to me those are aspects that really make this game shine. A must-play story game.

"My powers might not last."
"That's okay. We will. Forever."

This isn't just a game, it's a mindblowingly emotional experience and will probably remain as my favourite video game of all time.
