Good game. If you enjoyed Alien: Isolation or Resident Evil 2, you will enjoy this game.
For Amnesia fans, expect less focus on story and narrative, and much more emphasis on survival horror gameplay. You will need to improvise how to solve obstacles in your way, and your resource management skills are really put to the test. This is true survival horror at its finest. And for god's sake, do NOT let that generator run out!

Fantastic remake. They took everything crappy from the original like cutscene QTEs and Ashley being annoying and either removed them or massively improved on the original. Combat feels great and engaging. Character improvements are refreshing. There are unlockables and achievements for beating the game at a higher difficulty and/or rank which really improves the replay value.

I wish some scenes like the laser room and U3 boss from the original weren't cut, but hopefully those will be in the Separate Ways DLC.

Early Access Review
This game has really, really good emergent gameplay. Random combinations of spells on wands can create endless amounts of fun and overpowered ways of decimating your enemies. That is, if you don't mind getting destroyed in silly, unexpected ways half of the time. Also, the physics engine is great. Every pixel has its own physics and it's really quite lovely how the chemistry of different materials in the game plays out and creates new and challenging situations. If you ever get bored, try the plethora of fun mod content provided by the community.

Fun game where you can shoot demons and stuff.

Also play this on Nightmare for the optimal butt-tightening experience.

Play this game if you like very challenging games with fast and furious boss fight action and an amazing soundtrack. Especially if you're into shmups like Touhou.

Most well-told story, narrative and depth that I've ever experienced in a video game.
Frictional Games really outdid themselves with SOMA!

It's not a horror rollercoaster like Amnesia, and I wouldn't say it's as scary either. SOMA's approach is more into the psychological horror part, with a lot more build-up and more of a depressive, immersive atmosphere. Its way of presenting the concepts of existence, reality and human consciousness is absolutely incredible and will really leave you thinking about them for a good while after finishing the game!

As an avid fan of the Higurashi series, having read the entire original visual novel and having watched the anime adaptation twice, I can most definitely recommend this masterpiece of a story to anyone who likes a well-written and deep mystery story combined with horror and a fantastic atmosphere and suspense!

The story is gripping and exciting, making you eagerly wait for what's coming up next, and urging you to find out an explanation for all of the creepy and terrifying events that keep teasing you with their ambiguous meanings. The characters are well-written and really make you sympathize with them. They really elicit some real emotions out of you, especially if you're immersed, which the story's atmosphere itself delivers very well! The way the story builds a bond between you and the characters works really effectively especially when things start to get sinister, as such, it starts out all nice and slow but keeps you intrigued with bits and pieces of creepy foreshadowing events at a good pace, and gets increasingly screwed up the more you get into it! It finishes in a way that really makes you want more and look eagerly forward to the next chapter.

Give it a read and immerse yourself in the mysterious, frightening and thrilling story of Higurashi - When They Cry!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a great and scary game. Swedish quality. You don't see many masterpieces like this these days, most of them only have big guns and cheap scares. But this game doesn't include any weapons at all. Your only chance of survival is to run or hide. (Or both) It's funny how the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games cost alot and the best games are so cheap, like this, Terraria or Minecraft.
