Early Access Review
I'm really disappointed that this game wasn't... better.
I think the final straw, on top of the very rough dialogue and small-but-frequent gameplay 'speedbumps' when changing stance or using skills, was that the name of the achievement wasn't "Landlord of Darkness."

It's like arm wrestling. If you were poking each other in the face at the same time.

It's what I've always wanted my games to be. With awkward fanservice.

It was the perfect blend between Vaporwave, retro games and nontraditional storytelling.

It was a Metal Gear Official so I bared with the needless but easily invisible microtransactions. I fell in love with the environment in the first zone and fell in love with the franchise again while learning how to play. I loved the performance ranking afterwards, I loved all of the little details in the outposts as I crawled through them and Ocelot's explanation of the background story put me in some kind of ASMR pleasure state. Not having a full Metal Gear background didn't hinder me at all, and I liked the early character development so much. Seeing Hideo put himself in again made me chuckle at my longtime friend.

Then I met Quiet. The cutscenes involving her made me feel awkward since my girlfriend seemed to always be watching right when it started. Given, some characters are great, especially Venom Snake (omg that ending). But it seemed for every great character there was a very awkward one.

♥♥♥♥ you Hideo for making me love you and ♥♥♥♥ you for giving me Quiet.

It's pretty good. It's like a meele Left 4 Dead in a Warhammer world. You build up items you get after completing a mission and can reforge and break them down into simple items for a basic crafting system. The community is alive enough that I never end up finishing a mission alone when I host.

I know many big budget games are intended for console. I have never been insulted by that fact until this game.

The controls are atrocious; mandatory mouse smoothing, aim assist and basic aspects of the game (like camera snap for cars, which isn't a problem if you constantly have a finger on a control stick, and the phone menu, which often overshoots options). This with already poor systems for shooting and car handling, as well as the huge advantages an invaded player has, often visibly gets in the way of actually playing the game.

I really wanted it to be better than it was but I've played cellphone ports that play better.

The plot - what happens hundreds of years after a nuclear apocalypse - was pretty threadbare. The main quest is also directly in contradiction to almost every side quest offered making the hook seem contrived. That's a major failing for the most recent and famous Fallout title.

Choice, also a staple in Fallout games, is lacking. As many have pointed out, the dialogue options are insultingly linear. Weapons are pretty limited without dlc and many of your stats (SPECIAL) really don't do anything noticible outside unlocking perks.

The basebuilding is the gem in this game and its great but you dont really have any need for 40 footconcrete slab walls when the enemies all spawn inside the base thats bristling with rocket launchers.

The two story dlc were good but frankly didn't fix the incomplete feel this had.

To me it is a great first playthrough for the story and exploration (especially if you've liked the previous games) but looking at the game after I've played it this long I'm still disappointed in the game and honestly Bethesda.

The quest for Super Pierce was the single greatest musical achievement in video game history.

I bought it and had a lot of fun, right on up to a missing essential NPC. Can't continue playing, can't beat the game. Two reinstalls, seven game restarts and two save files from other players later I still can't interact with him. I hear it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ copyright protection program for the CD version.

I would never recommend to purchase a game you can't play. I want my money back.
