Performance is unacceptably bad, terrible in fact. The game was rushed out so fast that there's zero graphical optimization. How they managed to make a game that looks this bad run worse than ♥♥♥♥ is beyond me.

Dark and Darker is marketed as a free to play game but you're basically forced to spend $30.00 on it after the first 20 hours of playtime to get anything out of it anymore. Progression is practically impossible without these three core mechanics that are behind the paywall:

-Ability to have multiple characters and a shared stash. Having to delete all your belongings just to try a different class gets very tedious after doing so a few times.
-Access to the High Roller lobbies. This is the least of a hindrance of the three, but without it you're basically stuck in the grey-green loot pool.
-Full access to the marketplace. As a free to player you can only buy items from the marketplace, not sell. In practice, this means that you'll only get a fraction of the real value of a nice item, if you happen to find any in the Normal dungeons. Trading is the key for keeping your balance in check. Without the ability to sell, it's realistically impossible to actually have nice builds and gear up.

What comes to the actual gameplay, PvE is alright. PvP on the other hand is awkward and borderline silly. Tight corridors and doorways where you barely have room to pass another player forces fights into a stat checking spam with melee weapons. You can also always run away, until you or the one chasing gets stuck on mobs and dies. Spells are also boring and take barely any skill, mechanically nor tactically.

Soulless cash grab to put in short. Every game feels the same, no skill gap, no learning curve. No big updates, only reskins of reskins. Go play Apex instead, same idea but a much better game overall.

Unique Battle Royale with a lot of out play mechanics. Buggy for now, but the devs seem very passionate of their product and update it frequently. I hope it grows big and gets more polished over time.

Best 2D game I've ever played. Finally completed after 40+ hours in the mod.
