I had been wanting to get Portal and Portal 2 for a while, however I was still saving up for other purchases. When the steam summer sale came along, I just had to take advantage of the 90% off -- truly a steal. Even if I hadn't been able to buy Portal on sale, I would most definitely still get it for its hours of entertainment and engaging gameplay. The puzzles truly did challenge me, and I am in love with the concept and execution of the game overall. One thing I would say for those who only want to purchase one or the other is that while the original Portal may not seem as replayable due to lack of co-op, there are variations of the original puzzles and intriguing achievements that were likely missed the first time along that you can go back and complete. In other words, do not be deterred by single-player only! I have heard from other Portal players that the game is not as story-rich as Portal 2, which I suppose I agree with, but I don't find to be a deal breaker. There are plenty of hidden messages within the game that the player can easily find during gameplay, which was enough for me in terms of keeping me engaged. If you enjoy puzzle or logic games and/or the concept of portals themselves, this is the game for you.
