Anyone who wants a modern. immersive, 3D MMORPG that follows in the footsteps of Ultima Online, look no further. While admittedly a bit light in content, Mortal Online II gives players the tools for many potential organic stories to emerge.

While the game comes across as intimidating, players will often have no issue assisting new players to get the hang of things. The game is surprisingly intuitive once you realize how everything "works". Crafting, leveling up, and item management may seem a bit obtuse at first but after a few playthroughs everything just "clicks".

The big barrier and most divisive aspect of the game is the random player killing (RPK). With the exception of most (though not all) towns, the entire game is a free for all. Anyone can kill anyone for any reason. And once you die, all your gear and items you were carrying fall to the ground for thirty minutes, and whoever gets to it first picks it up (typically the person who just killed you since they are standing right there).

On one hand it makes the world feel dangerous and tense, as it feeds in with the previously mentioned "organic" feel and flow of the game. Merely surviving traveling from one town to the next is a feat and can result in a good story to boot. On the other hand nothing is more frustrating than being a mere minute away from town and getting ganked by a player and losing all of your investment.

Nothing is more soul crushing then spending an hour (or more) grinding to purchase or mine something, and trying to transfer it to a new town to sell just to die on the way. But nothing makes you feel more alive then outsmarting other players by finding new secret routes to bypass them, figuring out how to outrun them, or defeating them in battle and taking their valuables instead. It's a huge double-edged sword, and describes the entire philosophy of the game.

This game is a high recommendation for anyone who feels that MMOs these days are too linear and have too much hand-holding.

The game has been described as Super Smash Bros. Melee meets Guilty Gear, and that's what it pretty much is.

It's a fast and frantic platform fighter with airdashes, roman cancels, bursts, and the ability to take out all of your opponents health as an additional way to take out your opponent rather than the sole traditional way of out of bounds being the sole way to victory.

If you are a traditional fighting game player looking to try out a platform fighter, this is a great one to start with.
