With this newest update, it's now easy to recommend Forewarned. It now has so much of its own identity where a phasmophobia comparison is no longer warranted. It's still rough in places, but there's so many cool things to see. The mummies, maps, and ritual chambers are all so distinct that everything new is a treat. And terrifying!

This is a much different game from the original but I do no think that is a bad thing. The shadow mechanic from the first game is gone(?) and stealth is generally de-emphasized. But that's not a bad thing! It has been traded out for much more fluid movement and more in-depth upgrades.

I really wanted to like this game, but I just couldn't.

First off, despite what the store page would indicate, there seems to only be one level. Extremely disappointing.
After a confusing search for the menu, I found other gamemodes that were equally disappointing. You'd think the mode called "Endless" would not be in a small level space.

Onto the actual gameplay:
Travelling is not fun at all. A far cry from the Titanfalls and Mirror's Edges of the world. Wall running doesn't work, your player never connects properly. There's hardly any momentum, you stay basically at one constant speed. Jumps don't take you very far and the shift is jerky and annoying. Sliding is absolutely useless as well.

It gets worse though, as this is all distracted by the god-awful combat. It is no way fun or satisfying, and takes away any element of speed. Enemies are just annoying, any often take way too many shots to kill.

A bit nickpicky, but the gun models take up way too much of the screen. The game seems to have an FPS cap, and the sound design is revolting.

Overall, extremely disappointing. It may have potential but I'm not sticking around to find out. Developer should look to games like the original Sonic or Mirror's Edge, and see how the game could be done right.
