I think that this game is not about distopian future, not about life of a mercenary. It is all about harshness of life. The main hero holds onto a thin stick, climbs higher just to fall even deeper. It is game about hope and human determination and what challenges stand on their way. The development of the game, on the other hand, is directly opposite. CDPR managed to fix most of the problems with steady improvements, bringing new life into the game. The new dlc is a culmination of my words. 2 years after, I finally feel the same excitement I felt while playing the witcher, but from a much more disturbing, shattering and complex side.
