Short version:

Pros:
+ A blast to play with friends
+ Rewatch feature is a neat mechanic
+ Interesting character/monster designs
+ Gameplay is fun

Cons:
- Several bugs (getting stuck, being stun-locked…)
- No item descriptions (no idea what some items did)

“Long” version:

Content Warning, published by Landfall Publishing, is a first-person horror game where you and three friends team up to chase viral fame on SpöökTube. Your mission is to venture into the monster-infested Old World and capture as much terrifying footage as possible.

The story is straightforward: boost your SpöökTube views by risking your necks in the Old World. After each adventure, the ability to rewatch your footage adds a fun layer to the experience.

Gameplay-wise, things are kept simple. Controls are basic, and you can upgrade equipment to improve your videos, earning more views. A few items lack descriptions, forcing experimentation. The character customization is basic, but functional. While I've only played 2.5 hours, I worry about long-term replayability – I'll update this review as I explore further. The cyclical nature of the missions (film, survive, retrieve footage) could become repetitive. I also think a camera upgrade would do wonders, as you would be able to go for longer clips!

So far, I've seen two or three maps, which seems decent for now (again, there might be more maps and I will update this review as needed!). The in-game mic feature is a great touch – voices fade with distance, ramping up tension and leading to hilarious moments (like my friend getting dragged by a blob while screaming).

The game has some bugs. Once, I got stuck on stairs after being revived, and another time I was stun-locked between enemies with no escape. These issues are infrequent, though.

Sound design is decent. Sudden noises and creature sounds create occasional scares, but overall it's not overly terrifying. Ambient soundscapes effectively build atmosphere, though the lack of music is a missed opportunity (perhaps a future update?).

Considering I got Content Warning during its free giveaway, I highly recommend it. Will it have long-term staying power? That remains to be seen, but I'd love to see it get updates and build a dedicated community.

Check out the videos in this review to get a sense of the fun chaos. Gather your friends, hunt spooky monsters, and chase those SpöökTube views!

Final score: 7.5 out of 10.

Edit: Played yesterday and failed a day; managed to find my old camera during my next mission (could not record with it) and got to upload 2 videos in the same day! That is an awesome idea!
