I've played my 10 hours without spending a cent. I had fun, and over the years got so many expansions and content for free. Game is fun. I won't ask for anything else.

TLDR: Totally recommend this game. Decent graphics, cute creatures and fun and addictive game loop.

Palworld is, at it's core, a survival crafting game, similar to the last game of the studio -Craftopia- or Valheim. The twist here is, as you all know by now, that we have Pokemon-like creatures (Pals). This creatures can be used in combat and exploring the world as well as in your "base" to help you with numerous tasks that you might have. Pals will have different skills that can be usefull in your base and in combat. You will have to cook and eat to be able to keep doing chores, protect yourself from heat and cold, and fight against menaces on your way. You will have to take care not only for yourself but also for your creatures, as they will become hungry, lose HP or even go crazy while at your base if they don't rest/have fun.

You will have an unlockable "skill tree" in which you can select structures, weapons and clothes to craft, making the experience slightly diffent to a usual survival game (note that, after unlocking, you will still need to craft it with materials).

You can automate collecting processes with the creatures, for example harvesting or farming, if you have the correct types of Pals in your base.

Combat is action based, you can fight ranged, close ranged, with heavy weapons or light weapons. Your Pals will help you and eventually you will have unlockables to use your Pals as weapons in some cases, travelling with (on) them or a number of different perks.

While creating the world for the first time, you can set a big number of options to personalize your experience as you want it.

The state of the game, as far as I have been able play as of now, seems pretty good for being day 1 early access. A very fun experience, I'd say addictive even.

This is one of those games that would be even more fun to play with friends, as you collaborate to keep going and grow all together (or fight between yourselves). I would totally recommend the game to people interested in survival crafting games (more than people that come here to have a pokemon-like experience).

Now, if you have a Steam Deck: The game runs good on it, altgough it feels more comfortable playing with mouse and keyboard. The game will run smooth for most of the time, with some rare frame drops in rare situations, and popping of distant structures. The most noticable issue is the reduction of the framerate of distant Pals and enemies, while it exists on PC it happens only in very long distances, and on Deck it happens a lot more often and in shorter distances. Appart from that, I had no issues on Steam Deck and I enjoy playing it while away from the computer, it is a comfortable experience. Constructing your base while you're in bed on a rainy day take all the stress away.
