Have now played 2 days straight as of this review, a total of 24 hours of playtime. The game itself is a lot of fun. It's Monster Hunter, what you see is what you get. The open world with the monsters everywhere is really good and the next evolution beyond what World was...at least from what I'm told, as I never actually got around to playing World. Anyway, game is fun, story was alright, weapons feel good to to use (lance and HBG in my case), and I will continue to grind the heck out of this game for many more hours to come.

That all said, I cannot in good conscience give this game a thumbs up. The unoptimized performance issues and double DRM solution they employ is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I'm lucky in that I have a system that can brute force its way through the game with max settings and 1440p (4k with FSR Quality, running a Ryzen 5 7600 and 7900XTX), but that should not be a requirement to just achieve 60 fps with decent visuals. I should be getting at least 100-120fps, not ~70. Someone else with a more budget friendly system should be getting 60-80fps with decent visuals still, not a 30fps slideshow.

Until this gets addressed and fixed, I cannot give it a thumbs up, regardless of how much I personally enjoy the game.
