Unfortunately a significant downgrade on almost every aspect when compared to Bioshock 1 and 2, to a point where is hard to tell if this game can even be classified as a immersive sim. The open ended maps are gone, the arsenal is hefty but you're limited to two guns, this game's version of plasmids and tonics have been heavily simplified and the replayability factor suffers because of it, which seems to be the recurring story for almost every aspect of the gameplay. It mostly turned into a regular linear FPS, and while I do love those we are talking Bioshock here, one of the best series ever when it comes to player expression through its mechanics. They did later try to remedy this in Burial at Sea, but it was to little to late unfortunately

The best aspect of this game is definitely the visuals, the city is absolutely beautiful and the visual style is very unique, it could rival Rapture in this regard, but Rapture was so much more than just looks

The story here is all over the place, but what really ended up dragging it down more than any plot problems is that the setting is basically what every leftist dystopian fanfiction thinks will happen once their candidate doesn't win the election with a slight variation of "White Christian Americans=Bad". The previous games where very witty when presenting similar topics, never preaching nor ever feeling like it wasn't a extension of what the character worldview was, but once again that is not the case for Infinite, it's just straight up propaganda here and you can't go a couple of minutes without a verbal or visual reminder of it

Maybe it was a novel concept when this game came out, but playing Infinite on the current day after a decade of this being the only consistent topic in every form of media really destroys the experience unless you are part of the group of people that eats this stuff up. Nowadays we are stuck here where almost every big budget title's story is a cringy manifesto and unfortunately this might have been the one that started it all

Play Bioshock 1 and 2 instead, they are superior games in every single regard

The sort of game today's saturated market desperately misses, mid budget titles that shoot for the stars despite having no business even considering so

Just as it was typical for these kind of titles, there is a equal amount of misses compared to hits. It's pretty janky and somewhat barebones, you can tell very early on that some sizable corners where cut to get this game out, on the other hand it is unbelievably charming, the gimmick of being a ghost detective somehow doesen't wear off before you see the end credits and it's accompanied by a very unique setting that does a lot of the heavy lifting, pretty good plot too for the most part at least

The best way to describe this one would be if a PS2 B-Side game was made a decade later than it was supposed to, and despite not sounding like it, it is actually a compliment

Also New England Gothic is very underutilized in games, so if you enjoy the aesthetics definitely check this one out too

What an absolutely breathtaking art style

Despite being a big fan of the darker Warrior Whitin, this is easily the best looking entry in the series and overall one of the most beautiful looking games I've ever seen. If those concept arts you see around the internet of impossibly beautiful fantasy scenarios were a game, it would probably be this one

Definitely underrated, what a shame it never got a sequel before Ubisoft sold their souls to the devil

Honest Hearts might be very simplistic on the overall content, but the player most likely won't notice because Joshua Graham totally carries this DLC

Don't really like the idea of people buying the games before delisting since you would only be giving Rockstar money for their sh**ty behaviour, but It's really the last chance to get the trilogy before they remove it from Steam for the so called "Definitive Editions" who will be exclusive to their launcher. Despite these being bad PC ports, I guarantee you will have a better experience with the modded OG versions than the new ones
