Lazy Town is a Communist Dictatorship

Ah Lazy Town. What a show. Probably the only Icelandic show that I can name, maybe the only one in existence, who knows. It was a show that taught children about the importance of exercise, why you shouldn’t be “lazy”, and also indoctrinated them with communist ideals. Okay, calm down, let me explain. Let’s start with Lazy Town’s mandatory waking time. A mandatory waking time seems strange, especially for a town known for its anti-productivity, but it’s in the show nonetheless. The city also has mandatory education, which implies that the citizens have very limited freedom, which is a side-effect of communism. In fact, there’s an episode where Robbie Rotten, the villain of the series, takes over as mayor and abolishes the waking time, and allows people to eat unhealthy if they wish. (By the way, this also implies that Lazy Town has some restrictions on what you can eat). This is actually pretty similar to soviet russia. The soviets weren’t allowed to form their own opinions or found their own labor unions (state education is mandatory in Lazy Town), they were given government issued food (Lazy Town restricts what you can eat), and mandatory working for all able people (Lazy Town told its citizens when to wake up).

With that being said, Robbie Rotten is a Capitalist hero who gets a bad rap. He really wants to help the people of Lazy Town to fight against Sporticus (or Karl Marx) who is portrayed as a hero. Just like communism, everything sporticus SAYS sounds wonderful, but in practice, leaves the people no choice of what they actually want to do. If the citizens want to be lazy, let them be lazy. Lazy Town’s citizens are growing up under Sporticus’ Marxism, and will never know freedom.
