@Chillcatz If you don't tell me more details I can't help you, and this is not the support forums.

How can you not get your friend in? Does your friend's name not appear on the in-game friend list? Are you both online on steam? (you can't be on "invisible")

Also remember this is a local game with Remote Play implementation, so your friend doesn't even need to buy the game to play as the PC part.
