Neon White manages to make fast-paced speedrun gameplay addictive rather than monotonous. Levels are fast and can always be faster, and the satisfaction of shaving a few seconds off your best time never fades. I especially like how Neon White at times becomes a puzzle game. Seeing a collectible in the far off distance and thinking "how the *hell* am I going to get there???" only to figure it out with clever & precise gameplay makes you feel like an unstoppable genius. The story, for all its cheesy anime-esque dialogue/writing is surprisingly touching with convincing displays of the vagaries of emotional connection. At the end I was fully invested in the characters and their arcs - a rare feat in a game such as this.

And, of course, as everyone and their cat has mentioned, the soundtrack is *incredible*. For a game like this, where you are often constantly starting and restarting levels, you'll be hearing the same tunes over and over again. Machine Girl managed to craft a soundtrack that is both pulsatingly addictive while not being overly distracting or grating. (I highly recommend checking out the rest of their discography if you haven't already.)

Overall, I can highly recommend Neon White for those interested in going fast and jamming out.

Early Access-recension
NGU Industries is a lot different from NGU Idle but still has the charm to keep me both passively and actively engrossed. For one, it is a lot less "idle" than its predecessor. Upgrades to your factory will require reformulating parts or even restarting on some occasions. There is much more active involvement as you crunch the numbers to see how you can improve the productivity and efficiency of your world. While still in Early Access, NGU Industries shows a lot of promise and I'm excited to see what 4G has planned for the future.

Supergiant knocks it out of the park once again. A rich, expressive environment with characters who fit right in. The rougelike nature of the game lends itself to endless replayability - and it's a good thing the gameplay is such a pleasure. Fight. Die. Rise. The cycle of roguelikes has never felt so compelling.

Incredibly, deceptively addictive. What at first seems like a simple clicking game with cringy humor slowly reveals its intricacies. Unlocking that new feature or item is a surprising rush as you realize just how much content is behind the MS Paint goofiness. Ultimately, NGU IDLE has given me more enjoyment than most games - and it's free. Can easily recommend this to anyone interested in efficiency for efficiency's sake - but be warned that there's a good chance you'll become well and truly addicted.

Transistor is an Action-RPG created by the developers of the critically acclaimed Bastion. As such, it has a large pair of shoes to fill. Now, if you're looking for a game to match Bastion, I'd urge you to reconsider. Yes, Transistor is the "spiritual successor" to Bastion, but expecting it to be the same is a mistake. It is a unique game where the talents of Supergiant Games really shine in a new and innovative way while keeping the quality for which we know them. I've tried to keep spoilers to a minimum.

--STORY--
The story of Transitor is in keeping with the Supergiant tradition: a mysterious, post-apocalyptic mystery that unravels as you progress. The protagonist, Red, is silent throughout the game, with the majority of the narration done by the "Transistor." Despite this, the personality and motivations of Red are illuminated through the brilliant dialogue and storytelling. The Transistor's narration is top-notch; he is not an omniscient observer, but rather a real character. I found myself drawn into the story and yearning to know what truly happened. The only complaint I would have is that the story feels a bit rushed at the end (although the game is quite short, so this may just be me).

--GAMEPLAY--
This is where Transistor truly shines. The gameplay is extraordinary; it allows so much versatility for such a simple concept. As you progress, the Transistor gains new abilities to be used in combat. The combat system is a combination of tactical planning and real-time action. You can either plan your moves out and execute them rapidly or act in response to the environment around you. The enemies are varied and get more powerful as you play, preventing the game from feeling stale. Each enemy has its own "personality" in a way, and they provide a sense of comic reality to the game. In addition, you can make the game as hard or easy as you want through the use of "limiters" (think the shrine in Bastion). I would suggest you use a couple, as the game feels a bit too easy without any. The skillset is varied and allows for a nice myriad of options, especially due to the option of using each ability as either a passive, upgrade, or main ability.

--SOUNDTRACK--
The Transistor soundtrack is fantastic, almost another character in the game itself. It truly adds to the atmosphere, especially Red's almost ominous humming throughout the game. There's not much to say here, just know that the soundtrack is nothing short of a masterpiece.

In the end, I wholeheartedly recommend Transistor to anyone, whether or not they've played Bastion. It is a bit short (I finished it in 7 hours with almost all the limiters), but it packs so much content in those hours that you won't feel robbed at all. And, of course, there is a new game plus mode that will satisfy your craving for more Transistor should you have one.

The Witcher is a fantastic fantasy RPG that any fan of the genre should pick up. Storywise, The Witcher can get a bit confusing at times. With so many characters with competing motivations, it is often difficult to make sense of everything going on around you. That being said, if you take the time to understand each character, the story reveals itself as rich, deep, and complex. The gameplay takes some getting used to, but becomes easy once you get the hang of it. Visually, The Witcher shows its age the most. There are a few graphical issues, the most prominent in my experience being Geralt's axe moving through his sword. Nevertheless, if you can look past these hiccups, you'll find a world as alive as any other. Although The Witcher does feel a bit clunky at times, it is a very rewarding experience.

Rather than a sequel to the first game, Hate Plus plays more like DLC. Extremely short, meh story without the suspense of the first game. I also had to bake a cake. I am not good at baking cakes.

Keep in mind that I played this game as a child and as a result I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for SA2...

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is just... fun. I don't know what makes it so fun, it just is. Maybe it's the sheer scope of the game. Maybe it's the absurd plot. Maybe it's Chao Garden. Or perhaps it's something more. Something unintelligible. It feels like Sega really knew what they were doing with this one. The gameplay is solid (excpet those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful Knuckles/Rogue missions), there's a ton of replayability with each stage having multiple missions, and raising your own Chaos to your liking. All in all, SA2 is impressively satisfactory. Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but I'd highly recommend this game to anyone.
