car go fast find races, win races, vroom

this game was so much fun, we played as a group of 3 and just ran at everything with whatever we thought was cool looking equipped. didn't get to fish because one of us wouldn't want to wait for the other two to do that. sips. but the little bit we did when he was afk was fun and a good fishing system just watch that u dont get pulled into the water by the fish and then ur friend tries to save u and then ur husband tries to save both of u and then youre all dead in the water.

i'm not sure if i would have had the same amount of fun solo, although i would have been able to read what npcs said and see the boss cutscenes, but i still got the idea of what we were doing and why. the different bug species were all really cool to fight, i loved the fly trap plants the most because it seemed so obvious but i didnt think of them being something that eats me (a fly) until we ran into them. bug wise i loved the rolly ones the most because they just came out of nowhere and bonked me to death a few times and then stood on my body.

the story was also pretty good even if the preview pics kind of spoiled it because i read names but it still didn't spoil how we got there or the fight. the npcs were cute and recognizable even not reading most of what they said because multiplayer only let one person talk, the boss fights were fun even if a little easy with 3 of us.

10/10 would fly again

keeps breaking my second monitor, the one its on, or freezees up my entire computer. i dont know what causes it and it always takes awhile to remember whats breaking my pc but quitting this always fixes it. really sad becuse i love the little pets

LAG
i mainly play on xbox but when i play on steam its about a 90% smooth playing experience. i lag sometimes, i get disconnected for a second but long enough that it kicks me out of the game and im pretty sure its not my internet because nothing else goes down, it has crashed a few times mainly when i play with my husband and we both crash. his pc initially completely bricked, he had to reseat his gpu to get it to turn back on, mine has bluescreened once.

CLASSES
getting past the infrequent but still annoying issues above, the game itself is pretty fun once I found the class that clicked with me. I ended up making every single one and got 3 thru act 1, the other three barely left the starter town. so if you arent enjoying the game try a different class, even if its just for the personality of the character! i really like the way witch and ranger speak, and the fact that i can build them as if they were other classes makes this game really nice tbh. not needing to use a bow on ranger (at least in theory!) and the vast magical options on witch, or non magical again in theory, makes it so I won't get bored when there's eventually leagues.

PARTY/GROUP
party play needs a lot of work from what we've experienced. all of our crashes happened when together, it's very difficult to figure out where each other are, and not knowing if the ice under my feet is from him or the enemy all make the game just very not fun in groups. I really wish he had a highlight and that i could make his spells less bright or something to show its safe

STORY
the story isn't finished but what I played was really cool and interesting. I just got to the cruel version so Im fairly sure i played the full released main story but it was really good and kept me listening to it, at least for the most part i am a story skipper at heart but i tried. the side stories and quests were also really interesting especially the way each character is somehow involved with the world we're in. tiny spoiler; for example it was really shocking and cool that warrior is the son of the blacksmith in the first town. it made me want to play him even when i hated his skills (he isnt one that made it past act 1)

FUN
i just finished act 3, which was kind of a slog but had aesthetic that i really enjoyed so it evened out, but I def could see myself quitting the game because act 3 is just so long and tedious all for not that much story-wise. otherwise the game has been pretty fun once i found class that fit me. i wish i could party with my husband and still enjoy the game. we'll also see how much fun im having when i hit end game!

DIFFICULTY
the difficulty is pretty up and down depending on your gear and if you follow a build or not. example, i played monk with no build i was following and just tried to be tanky, it did not go well at all. deleted and remade following a build this time and even though i went straight damage i was somehow tankier and could live through hits that killed my first character. it was probably my gear/skills/supports but the vast difference in playing experiences made me feel kind of sad that i couldnt make my first monk work out and i did so poorly building him. i've since learned monk defense is just hard to do in general while still clearing mobs but it still feels like im confined especially in early leveling. everything is clearable you just need the stats and know how of your build, but it def has harder times depending on what kind of gear upgrades you can or cannot get. spent all my gold on vendor armor just to get a new pair of shoes that weren't level 8 and a ring that wasn't poopoo after such a long time not finding a better one

TLDR
initially had a hard time running it, it still dc's and lags frequently but not often enough to frustrate me. had to try every class to find one i liked and could clear bosses on. saddened i feel so skill confined but that is on me. group play/visibility and general visual clarity needs a lot of work. pretty fun game outside of that, much improved from poe1 imo

has a great spin on the traditional build and survive games, from crafting to the animals and the systems that keep you alive. everything is simple enough to understand but complicated enough that you can always learn more. the only thing they could improve honestly is how aggressive the horses are.

huge bonus for them is how the devs have been doing weekly updates for the entire run of this game and theyre always a hit, maybe not for me but theyre all a great addition
