Extremely chill experience overall, it's nice to just putter around the galaxy just discovering new things as you gradually find ways to get stronger and manage the absurd amount of items you come across.

A fantastic little retro game, still hard as hell but a worthy spin on its predecessor.

A pleasing game that packs a lot of fun into 20 minutes. The bite-size sections of gameplay make this a really good "i need to pass a little bit of time" style of game - other vamplikes require a larger time commitment in general but this one manages to condense the experience into short bursts.

Love the character designs, too. I want Diamond to pick me up with one arm and pitch me across the horizon

Unusual and original narrative structure for a VN that I feel is definitely worth experiencing, tied in with some creative aspects (which i love) and exploration of tarot and card reading (which i super love). The game starts strong, but unfortunately it does suffer from a far weaker second half of the story - not so much as to ruin the enjoyment of the game as a whole, but I felt the shift in tone and game mechanics wasn't really my thing at all.

Also the character designs are absolutely incredible. I want Dahlia to bear hug me until my neck snaps like a dry twig

As an old fartess who's been playing videogames since the 80s, i've gotten more and more unenthusiastic about gaming as a whole over time as it becomes turned into an "industry", cranking out things that more amount to all-style no-substance software that really amounts to more of a business platform or a movie with buttons than an actual game.

I've been dedicated to indie gaming exclusively for quite some time, and Pseudoregalia is a good sign that the future of indie games in general is in good hands. Short but sweet, it draws upon a retro style I've not seen much representation of - the N64/PS1 low poly era. This game is unashamedly proud of its roots, and it absolutely should be because it moves gorgeously and has a ton of character to it.

Twitchy movement tech is something I've admittedly always struggled with in games, but with enough practice and a bit of thinking on how to combine the tools you're given, solving the tests and puzzles the game puts in front of you becomes immensely satisfying as you figure out ways to fling yourself around the terrain with reckless abandon. Combat is a little bit on the janky side, but as it's clearly not the game's focus, it doesn't come up as an issue too often.

As is so often the case with indie games there's also a great soundtrack that evokes the era of games that inspired it. I'm told there's also sequence breaking which is gonna make watching recorded challenge playthroughs of this game a real hoot once people figure all the ridiculous possibilities out.

All in all, worth every cent. I hope to see more from this developer eventually but for now I think they've earned a pat on the back and a nice rest.

While a simple traditional RPG at heart, Super Lesbian Animal RPG (or SLARPG as the.. mildly unpleasant sounding acronym goes?) brings a LOT to the table in its characters, writing, soundtrack and overall vibe.

In terms of gameplay, the Star Power system freshens up the combat by rewarding you for having characters play to their personality and role in combat encounters, and there's quite a number of sidequests and things to find exploring the game's world. The level cap being somewhat low lends itself well to the overall structure and length of the game since I feel it's primarily trying to tell a story first, and be a game after that - despite that, there are one or two genuinely tough optional challenges in the game. Nothing hardcore, but you're probably not going to buy a game named Super Lesbian Animal RPG if you're looking for Dark Souls, right?

The general writing in this game is good. Like, really, REALLY good. I understand from some poking around that this was originally a pony fangame. I think taking it in a more original direction was absolutely the right choice - not out of any particular antipathy of ponies or (justifiable) fear of Hasbro's legal department, but because it has enabled the author to apply their own personal touch to the writing and story, and it shows. There's an absolute ton of personality in not just the story, but HOW it's told, with moments both lighthearted and heavy that have honestly left a genuine impression on me.
The colorful cast is often relatable (I'm absolutely a Claire, myself) and often really genuinely funny in a variety of different ways and it's not difficult at all to end up getting attached to a handful of them. Even the villains and side characters manage to be fantastic.

I guess it's kind of appropriate for a game that's centrally about love to very clearly show that a lot of love has been poured into its creation. The only thing I can really ding this game for is costing $15 - I would have happily paid more for this experience. (Well, *if* I had paid for it. A friend gifted it to me because i'm also an extremely gay furry and also the girlfriend character has the same name as my also gay furry girlfriend and that's honestly pretty neat and really what more could you want)

A pretty worthy wonderboy-like. Nails the Master System vibe perfectly. Frustrating at certain points but worth seeing through to the end.
