basically just a rehash of Saints Row 3, but they didn't bother to hire anybody creative for the dialog or character arch.

A non-violent shooter where the best advice one can get is: Just spray it 'til it dings,

"Just spray it 'til it dings" also works for most other shooters as well.

Also, I think the character you play is some abomination from the dungeon dimensions. He doesn't drag around a hose but never runs out of water. He has an uncanny sense of balance. And he doesn't cast a shadow. It's really weird to pick up the ladder, and see the ladder is casting a shadow, and you aren't.

I meant to write something about this, but I forgot what it was. It had something to do with the ... thingy... the brain thingy. S ... it starts with an S.. Station? sorrow? sedative? sanitation! brain sanita -- No that's not it.

Sanity! Yes. thats the .. thingy.. verb? adverb? umm word!

Anyway, wondering around in the black .. no -- shadows? Um wait, nearly got it. Dark!

walking around in the dark makes you lose your. What was it? I just said it 30 seconds ago. Oh, right. haha. its just up there -- lose your sanity.

I don't remember why that's a thing.

I'm not sure why I picked this one up. Probably it was on sale for cheap.

The first 3D platformer I remember playing was MS-DOS based Rise of the Triad in 1994.

Personally, I am a bit tired of the 3D platformer, So much more can be done with a 3D open-world environment, it's a bit sad to see game developers revisit the same thing time after time. But then, the multi-billion dollar movie industry tends to do more remakes than dare to trying something new.

So I don't know why I picked this up. I was searching through games tagged as "Horror". I guess I didn't look close enough.

Anyway, Alice: Madness Returns

The story starts when a girl / young woman in therapy. It unfolds that she's been in an asylum for years. She is dealing with bad memories of losing her family in a house fire. The show she is prone to hallucinations shortly before she falls back into Wonderland.

After she fell into Wonderland, got her weapon and won the first battle, I couldn't help but think of the hallucinations shown a few minutes before. Then wondered if she just murder someone, or maybe killed a cat, while in the grip of hallucination.

It's a fine game, especially if you enjoy 3D platforms. it's a bit to Mario for me. You don't collect stars, but teeth, bottles, memories, and other things.

There are many times your path becomes a "can't go back" as the change from one area to another. If you see something you mean to collect, but wander to far trying to find a better way to access it, you might just be blocked permanently from picking it up.

Or so it seems, 1 hour in.

There are no save games, just save points. One save point, so trying to go back through a save is also impossible.

Which means, it you know you missed an item, you have to start at the beginning.

Or let it go, knowing you can't 1005 the level.

Odd choice for the devs to make, but maybe the penny-pinchers cut their funds before they added a proper save game.

Anyway, if you enjoy 3D platforming, you'll probably like this game. I don't dislike it, but feeling a bit meh about.
