This game leaves me with mixed emotions. Why? Because it could have been so much more!

For instance, you constantly play in the dark. Why not make a day/night cycle, by adding this you have an extra layer of danger because as a vampire you can't stand the light. It would have made the game less depressing for me personally with some added colors from the daylight.

The combat could use some tweaks aswel. Why not have a crouch for stealth? Of no kill attack from above? There have been allot of situations where i could have used this. Also the sneaking consists of trying to walk up to a enemy and because you run, this gives some unneeded situations.

And the last thing that started to be a drag is, you eventualy will do the same thing, over and over. In the beginning is this no problem but at the end it started to wear me down. Maybe some more variantions of things to do would have been aswsome.

Outside of these, I really enjoyed the game! Intressting story, good and intressing charackters. The fact that you can't just run around a bite everyone I really appriciated. Eventualy made selections on who to bite or not. It would have been cool if you could also choose to turn people, at the moment it is on some occasions you could do this but does not really have any benefits or some sort.

In my opinnion the game is a good filler RPG and I would suggest you pick this up in a sale. But it is not going to be a game you will be playing couple of times unless you go for the achievements. So because the positives outweight the negatives I will recommend Vampyr.

So i was looking in my library and noticed The Darkness II still standing unplayed. I was like oke why not? So started playing the game and the look and feel is still awesome for a game of 5 years old. The style that they have chosen is still great to look at. I really had a blast with this games single player, to bad it was a bit short (finished it in 6 hours) but then again I think if they made it longer it would become repetative. Also i have to mention that the combination of double guns + the darkness if really well done! I personaly like to play with controller so i had to adjust because it is only partial supported but i managed.

If you have not played this yet, but are afraid of it's age. Don't be, still a hell of a good time.

So i finished my first play through yesterday. This review does not need to be long because I will sum things up. I got the game in the humble bundle 2K package and to be honest, i never wanted this game. But hey, it's in the package why not give it a go?

THE GOOD:

1) Story
I really liked the story and how they make you feel when trying to do the right thing. I have to see the result for the other options, but i felt like an bad bad man when i was done with my first run.

2) Environment:
This city is so huge, awesome and nice to look at with the team. We have been in the desert, city streets, water plants, radio stations, exhibitions and all the good stuff, you can see trip pictures in my profile. Nice atmosphere overall (And I am a sucker for atmosphere)

3) Music:
You give me some old skool music like deep purple en some new neo-psychedelic rock and i am in! Nothing to complain here.

4) Gameplay and other:
The way the movement feels in your hand is just solid and familiar. Also liked the survival aspect of getting enough bullets, I tried to kill my opponent in one go. This did not always work. If you get out of ammo, the feeling of pressure to get new ammo quick or die is just a good mix in this game.

THE BAD:

1) Cover mechanics:
I died so much because i needed to vault, run to next cover. When running to cover he will snap into cover on the wrong side... Then i needed to vault again en get my ass down in cover again. You can imagine how many times you get shot doing this.

2) Game length:
The title tells it all, but a game of 6 hours? As someone who likes single player games this is too short for my taste.

OVERALL:
It's a good game, nothing special but what 's new right? If you can get it cheap just do it. I would like to see more of this. It's a game of 6 hours, sadly to short for my taste. If you plan to play this game, don't expect anything and you will be surprised of how cool this game really is.
