A genuinely charming, heartwarming, and emotional game; don't let the title fool you, it's pretty serious sometimes. The story delves into explorations of self-identity, what it means to be a good partner, and how to be better to your friends. It also features some of the funniest jokes, most relatable characters, and absolutely most banger soundtrack in any indie game since that one with the skeletons. Yeah I'll say it, Ponett should be considered on the level of Toby Fox. They both have fluffy white dogs as their author avatars so it just makes sense.

While the game is made in RPG Maker, nearly everything is custom sprited and drawn with clear love for the medium of pixel art. The music is beautifully composed, with chiptune styling as well as tons of variety in tone, and available to listen to officially on Youtube and Bandcamp. The writing is stellar, able to make me laugh out loud over inspecting little details in rooms, or tear up at emotionally resonant moments like just chatting at night on the docks. Side characters are all uniquely designed and memorable, the areas you visit are beautiful and at times chilling (sometimes both), and the plot is just something you have to experience for yourself because oh baby, does this game have a story.

All in all, a fantastic game, a personal 10/10, and absolutely in the running for my top game of the year, if not the decade so far. If you can spare the time and $15, I implore you to get this game.

This is the only game I know where you can fight a big dude made up of a hundred other dudes stuck together and then when you cut that big dude's hand off, he rips the head off a dragon and sticks it on his arm as a new hand. And then after you beat him you can replace YOUR hand with a dragon

An excellent rogue-like filled with guns, puns, and “one more run”s, EtG is fun for the whole family. As long as your family consists of people who enjoy fighting living bullets, machine gun-wielding birds, and firearm based Eldritch horrors. While it can be frustrating just starting out, with perseverance, you too can conquer the Gungeon. (The Switch version is great too, I recommend that if you have it!)
