There's also a LOT of enemies that have stunlocking, or high powered, near insta-death attacks. Also sometimes you'll end up dropped directly into a mob of enemies, all of whom get an attack on you before you get your turn. So save often and beware.

The best stuff you're going to get is through crafting, so check out the wiki and determine which crafting skills dovetail with your build and make sure you're putting points in that too.
