Early Access Review
I recommend picking up a legionary's life. For me the game had good replay value with certain events and paths being unlocked after multiple playthroughs of the game due to increased character stats. Yes, the gameplay can be quiet challenging. I recommend just trying to stay alive your first few playthroughs, before turning up the heat and dropping your enemies before you. The skill leveling works well with you being rewarded for good combat as well as training keeping you from being bottlenecked into one way to increase your combat stats. These also are buffed with the Natural Swordsman and Natural Aegis "Perks" at character creation. Sadly this is not the same for your ability scores. In order to expand your physical abilities you just send our free time doing things like running or swimming. Sadly, there is no other way to increase these, other than points at character creation. I think the easiest way to do it would be to reward the character with ability increases with showings of ability based on percentile almost like the way the javelin bullseye or second action percent system works. The mental stats on the other hand can only be improved through in game events. Things like successfully finding food during foraging or successfully completing certain in game events. There is no way to improve them through training like the physical attributes. The gear has a decent variety to it of styles of equipment ranging from helmets to swords. I do hope this area is expanded into, hopefully eventually allowing you to do things like picking up a finer made bundle of javelins or a heavier shield, the system certainly has the capacity for this. I also preferred when the equipment ratings went to 8 instead of 6, for me this allowed even playthroughs at the highest levels to still struggle for the best of the best gear, and honestly I would expand it up to 10 to allow for more "legendary" equipment pieces.
