Party MMR uses a weighted average, that basically means, the bigger the gap between party members, the more skewed towards the higher ranked player your party MMR will be, so when you're 1450 and your friend is 1275, most games you're probably going to queue into people from 1400-1450, so I don't see how 1500 is that big of a difference. Anybody can gain 50 mmr from a 5 win-streak.
