Really impressed with the game so far! But let's start with the bad:
- The game is too sluggish. Remember, Gothic is a clunky game, but not a sluggish game. They nailed the clunk, but it's a bit too slow. In the original, all of your actions were a lot snappier, the slowest attack in gothic 1 was untrained two handed weapons, and even those attacks are fast in comparison to the "fast" attacks in this demo.
- Inventory opening takes just a bit too long.
- Eating stuff doesn't show the item in your hand (though this most probably will be addressed)
- You cannot jump while you have a weapon out.
- You cannot do running attacks.
- Diego's voice actor isn't the original one :( would it have really been that expensive to hire William Roberts for the role? https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0731681/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t17
- The dodge move is a bit too overpowered. I was able to beat everybody in the game with it, and that's not something you're supposed to be able to do at the very beginning of the game.
- The menu and control scheme is god awful! You should have kept it simple, like what the original did, which you could literally play with a single hand on the keyboard (and I did entire playthroughs like that).

The good parts!
- VERY close to the original in atmosphere
- The music is exactly the same as the original, only better! That's because it's the same dude writing the music!
- The clunk is stil there, and that's great!
- The dialogue fits the atmosphere and the lore of the game, though I'd prefer it if people were a bit more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
- Healing items seem a bit more balanced than in the original, where raw meat would heal you for 10 HP.
- The stats and combat balance seems to be about the same as the original.

All in all I think they did a very good job, and it just needs to address some of the things I mentioned, and give it an all around more polish.

The new Mea Culpa content is great, the new bosses are done just right, and the areas are beautiful!

Pretty good, but clunky at times.

The atmosphere in this game is absolutely amazing!

But the game is not for everyone, it's very clunky and incredibly difficult!

Early Access Review
Revised review after beating the full game.

Some very good things:
- NO CONTACT DAMAGE!!!
- More customization, including equipment, homonculi weapons, etc.
- No more use number spirits
- Your character talks and has a personality
- Bosses are overall better than the first one (with few caveats)

Some cons:
- Weird slowing down dodge animation. I can't put my finger on it, but the dodge animation (not the roll, the dash thing) is weird, you have iframes but it seems to slow down towards the end, and you can only start another one after the first one ends. It looks really weird and it breaks the fluidity of the game. Ender Lilies had much better dodge animation and mechanics.
- Everything deals way too much damage past the first few areas, to the point where regular enemies can 3hit you with max defense on normal, in the mid point of the game, and most bosses 2-3 shot you, or even outright one shot you in some cases.
- The bosses that are worse than Ender Lilies are worse by a landslide! There's a mage boss that infinitely summons a minion to heal her in phase 1 and 2, which is straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and there's another "boss" that's basically 4 bosses back to back, and if you die at any of them, you have to repeat all of them. The problem is that, as mentioned above, all of these bosses have moves that 2-3 shot you.

Overall I'm very happy with the game! Definitely a worthy successor, I'd give the game a 9.3/10, with Ender Lilies being a 9.2/10 :)

So far the game is solid, very fun. It's basically dragon's dogma one, overhauled.

But it has the issues that everybody is complaining about: performance issues, mtx in a singleplayer game, denuvo, etc.

Still, I would honestly recommend this game.

As soon as Capcom buys my "Dragon's Dogma 2: Recommend Game" DLC, I will switch this to a positive review.
Only 1.99$

The game doesn't allow you to change the keybinding for menu functions, so regardless of how you change your keys, menu buttons are the same (escape to cancel and enter to confirm).

That's an automatic NO from me.

Cons:
- No autosave when resting
- Movement is very rigid
- Rigid movement + clunky combat + contact damage = over reliance on jumping attacks
- Every single enemy is faster than you. MUCH faster.
- Part of the clunky controls issues, if you are looking in a direction (let's say left) and you quickly move right and then immediatelly afterwards you use your shield, you'll still have your shield up but looking to the left.
- Enemies are way too tanky, every enemy past the 50% mark is just a damage sponge.

Pros:
- Nice graphics
- Nice music

All in all there is absolutely no way I would recommend this game. Not even if it sold for 2$.

I'd honestly rate it at about 3/10.

Very good puzzle game, and it achieves cooperative play without requiring an online connection.

This game has by far one of the most (if not THE most) satisfying combat system in the genre.
At the very least it has the best implemented parry mechanic. And I mean of course it does, the game is more or less centered around it.

It also controls like butter, a bit more clunky than Hollow Knight, which is like the gold standard (except for HK's ♥♥♥♥ doublejump and wall jump), with a few more traversal glitches, but the traversal itself is also very satisfying, and the fact that traversal and combat are so seamlessly intertwined is one of the best aspects of the game.

The artstyle isn't anything to brag about, kind of lacking to be honest, but it does the job and suits the lore of the game perfectly.

Where this game shines is really the bossfights. Has some of the best bossfights in the genre. All the bosses are pretty much unique and all of them are creative and fun to play.

The upgrade system (not that of weapons, but of prey) is a really nice substitute for a "skill" system, I'd only wish it was free to reassign your points.

The weapons have weight to them and you can feel the damage that you're doing.

All in all a solid 8.5/10
