The tutorial is very good and sets the mood wonderfully and powerfully. I think it sets you up to fail so that you learn how to fail, and indirectly teaches you how to succeed.

Very very slight spoiler: the tutorial could have set you up to have a reset point far back enough to not fail without having to start over. I didn't, because I quick saved early enough by chance, but just barely. Powering through from the beginning would not have been fun and totally avoidable given that it's a tutorial phase.

Early Access Review
Very encouraging for an early game and a lot of fun with a friend! I'll try to get a few more friends in this, totally great fun and a decent workout.

The immersion is amazing and 99% nausea free motion. They got this dead right: A limited play space with no reason for you to leave the play area -- so if you set up your room right, you're in the play space 100% of the time and don't ever need to lose immersion worrying about where you are. The platform is the same as your chaperone/guardian! You can move fast and freely, kneeling, standing, leaning... Fantastic. And amazing with the Quest 2!

The matches are fun. I was really good at one mode, and my opponents were really good at another. It felt challenging and not like anyone could be good 100% of the time.

I like the subtle mechanics-already captured platforms are faster to jump to, you can also strategically break up a chain, or feint. Also the PAYBACK and other messaging when you achieve something mid-match!

While the multiplayer is kind of dead (it's Early Access), I appreciate that you track the best times to play. Could you convert the times to local time, perhaps? I might be willing to play with another region at an odd time of day locally. Perhaps you could arrange some weekly matches so it fills up.

I've played all of the rhythm games for the last three years and this team is making the right decisions. High quality game, high quality music, responsive and available developers that address player feedback, and they're not selling out. I always refused to buy music packs for other games because they stopped focusing on the fundamentals and they iterate. SR keeps innovating and can keep taking my money as long as they keep producing content.

Now, some feedback:
* I have no interest in YUR and it completely takes me out of the game. Complete immersion loss every time I see it and it angers me a little. It would cost the game at least half a star of its near perfection.
* Could we get a neon and pastel color palette to pick our colors from or preview? It's hard to pick good colors when you want to customize them. I love my purple dual hands, but can't find a good color for the barriers.
* The UI is still ridiculously confusion to find songs in. No human organizes their music by the pack they bought it in--that's very seller-centric. Beat Saber created a bad UI and everyone is copying it. An attractive file organizer would be better. It's hard to scroll through fast to find what you want.
* More subtle beat sound option when hitting a note-I would like feedback, but the sounds are too noticeable, and if FX turned down, I don't hear the important completion sound FX.

And a wish:
* Tron soundtrack and level. Take my money. (Just be fair and not greedy, unlike BS!)

Love what you're doing, don't forget who you are and keep being that team--no matter how much success comes along.

Even on my gen 1 Rift, MY GOD. This is immersion. I forgot where I was. I wish I had a big enough place to walk around a bit more... I even resisted pulling the HMD off for a sip of beer, I didn't want to leave.

I played this for 23 hours in the first 48 hours I owned it. If that doesn't say all...

2020 Update: Basic experience is still terrible even on 100MB symmetric connection. Why is my video going to Virginia before coming back to me and my friend? These developers completely misunderstand the technology and what people want, only focused on selling tickets to a crappy experience.

---

I gave up on BigScreen for months waiting for a BigUpdate. And all we get is an empty lobby, ugly avatars, painting tools I didn't ask for, a ******* selfie stick are you serious?

How about make the basic experience work before selling avatars and tickets to movies? How about letting me friend people if I have to create an account. How about making less unreadable room IDs, and making them persistent because the app crashes constantly?

How about making microphones work consistently and making video streams watchable on symmetric 75 MBPS connections before adding another color to any of your "content"?

How about reliable audio streaming? None of the rooms I went into had audio on their video, while I could hear 8 year olds saying the P word and giggling. This is awful.

Actually, the one thing I did enjoy about the update was the usable menu system, thanks. But why is it a foot from my eyes, it hurts every time I bring it up!

A perfect VR point and click adventure. Excellent writing, amazing visuals, unique perspectives, and appropriate length. Super worth it even if you don't really know much about the Psychonauts.

What a delightful experience. I wish some of the sequences were more fleshed out, but it's absolutely worth the price of admission to experience.
