Early Access Review
I was expecting mostly a car and engine designer with some simulation elements. What you get is actually an extremely complex company management simulator that happens to have a somewhat decent engine designer, and a very frustrating car designer.

After a long day at work, I simply don't feel like combing over the intricacies of market demands in foreign countries and managing R&D funds for upcoming emissions regulations and increasingly stringent safety standards. Each menu has about an essay's worth of explanations, and you leave more confused than before. This game is essentially doing the same thing CEOs, CFOs, engineers and marketing agencies do for a salary, but for free, and in a video game. Look, I get that some people like this, and I could tolerate that if the car designer wasn't absolute s-

Every car you design looks kinda off, like an automation car. Designing car interiors is nigh impossible, extremely frustrating. Exterior design is extremely time consuming and buggy.

Unfortunately, I could not get a refund in time, so the best I can do is say this; if, like me, you wanted a car designer to make BeamNG cars, I do not recommend this game. 35$ is not worth it, especially when you consider that V16 engines are only available in a separate paid DLC.

If your idea of fun is managing a multi-million company for free on your spare time, then maybe you'll like this.

A solid 9/10 in my book. The world was a little intimidating at first with its massive scale but it becomes really incredible as you keep exploring. The combat in this game is super fun with tons of different options to choose what kind of fighter you want to be. The story is compelling and masterfully written, the graphics are awesome, and the playstyle reminds me of half life 2 (which is a fantastic game).

I've encountered almost no bugs, all of which were minor/cosmetic, and no game breaking bugs.

I'd definitely recommend to pick up this game especially if it's on sale because you're getting excellent value. Another thing I want to mention is my appreciation towards CDPR. They don't have DRM in the game files which is extremely impressive and respectable, and unlike every other major game studio nowadays. I love how they focus on the main story and don't try to milk you dry with in game purchases for an online mode (unlike a certain other famous open world developer), I love how they quickly patched this game and kept supporting it constantly from day 1, I love how the updates are frequent, substantial, and FREE, I love how they support modding and make it easy for people to create and install mods, I love everything about their business model that heavily favours consumers, and I truly believe it is something worth supporting because it is so rare nowadays.

Don't let the subpar release make you avoid this gem, it's truly a game worth playing.

Unplayable.

Average experience goes as such.

-Queue for match, join.
-begin playing, get killed by aimbot.
-try another server
-WAIT
-join losing team at the end of the game. Play 10 seconds, match ends.
-WAIT for the server to begin a new round
-WAIT for players to join server
-WAIT for the 1 minute pre round timer to end
-WAIT for the defending team to set up.
-Finally play, it's a complete stomp
-Match over in 3 minutes.
-Losing team disconnects
-Get autobalanced
-Everyone leaves, server is empty
-If you somehow play a full round, everyone leaves at the end, forcing you to find another server and WAIT again.

90% of this game is WAITING for various timers, and 10% playing the game, with varying degrees of fun.

When you get a good round, this game is fantastic, but it's too much of a hassle and such a rare event that I just don't bother playing anymore.

Absolutely fantastic game.

This is about as perfect as a remake could ever be, but is still an incredible game by itself. The visuals are simply incredible, and they improve on what the original half life offered.

Visually, it's the best half life game out there (with the exception of half life Alyx, but I haven't played this one yet). It's a faithful recreation of the original game that really brings it to life.

The level design is very similar to the original game, but improved in certain areas where it originally lacked.
The enemy ai is something that particularly caught my attention. Honestly, this is one of the first games I've played where I feel that I deserved killing a particular enemy. The marines are particularly scary, they genuinely feel like competent enemies and are pretty tough to kill.

This game is LONG. It took me about 20 hours to play through it, taking my time of course. It's definitely longer than the original Half life, and it's really worth it. Some areas do drag on for too long, but the positives outweigh the negatives here.

The soundtrack is AMAZING. It suits the game really well, but doesn't overdo it. The first soundtrack we hear after starting the game for the first time perfectly sets the mood. On a related note, the voice acting is top notch. The only voice I was a little disappointed with was the Gman's voice, but that's because that character has a very iconic voice that is hard to replicate without the original voice actor.

Some negatives, it happened a few times where I jumped from one area to the next, but didn't make the jump, yet still managed to hit the autosave. Meaning I respawned after missing the jump, and thus was stayed in an infinite loop of falling to my death and respawning.

Performance also significantly slowed down in the later stages of the game.

I was also kinda disappointed in the lack of controller support for this game. It took me AGES to get it properly working, and even now I'm not too sure how I managed to do it.

Overall, a very fantastic game that is a proper heir to the original Half life. If this is your first time playing half life, I'd even encourage you to play Black Mesa if you want a modern experience. Buy this game, I recommend it.
