Best gunplay on the market, excellent PVE content, and deep investment systems to grind. PVP has it's ebbs and flows based on whatever the meta is. New player experience definitely needs improvement, but if you're looking for a new main game and don't mind utilizing resources outside of the game to improve your experience, Destiny will get it's hooks in ya deep and you will get thousands of hours out of this experience.
