really love this game, but there's many "odd" design choices in it. my personally biggest one is the reinforcements system, the many unfair ways to die, and about losing missions.

like, there is alot to say to not worry about mission loss. requisition + experience, super-credits, and partly medals, none require a 100% success to earn them.
but there's also alot that says to NOT lose. medals only awarded if every objective is fully completed, samples require to extract while carrying them, and fulfilling operations without failing gives significantly increased medals AND is the only way to contribute to a planet's liberation.

in my opinion doesn't really fit having so much focus on RNG and unfair deaths, if the game also has a very high focus on progression and grinding, and fully expects you to succeed 100% to earn some of the required rewards for that grindy progression.
