The Last Starship is in early access right now, so it's missing a lot of content and game modes. There are hints of what will be added in the future -- the ability to create starbases instead of starships, for example.

I tried targeting and destroying a neutral ship (not a hostile), and it worked! And my criminal score went up! It didn't affect my ability to trade at colonies or shipyards, but maybe it will...

Linux players: while there is no native Linux build (yet?), I've played it almost entirely on Linux from the first early access alpha.
