A positive experience others may find negative:

I know DD strategy and I still have managed to lose an entire team to chained heart attacks. I had a group of level 3 heros with some rare to very rare trinkets trying to squeeze out the last room of a long scouting level. On the last fight, my heros were surprised and my lineup got scrambled. The 2 stress casters managed to get 2 rounds off on my most stressed hero. After she died of a heart attack, it made the other heros get stressed, causing another to die of a heart attack - repeating down the line until my entire team - and all my trinkets - were wiped out completely. That was the first and last time I put that much stress into my heros. Because... overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

A game that lets you fail this spectacularly is a rare gem.

Despite some connectivity/stability issues (not lag - just maintaining stream) and 360 controller oddities, the picture quality is great over an AC wireless network. If they could fix the stability issues and add support for Xbox One wireless controllers this would be a must have for most households.

This is pretty much Banished on other planets. If you like Banished you will like Planetbase. Also if you remember playing the game "Outpost" in the 1990's, this is the game you've been waiting 2 decades for.

+ Survival City Building
+ Nice graphics
+ You start on "Mars"

- Glitchy AI (this is improving with patches)
- Meteor strike prevention doesn't work properly
- Malnutrition/Food system needs some work
- 1-in/1-out airlocks are unrealistic and cause queue issues

For a "Steam Special Edition" this title is severely lacking. They didn't even bother with adding achievements to it. Kalypso put just a hint of effort into this release and it shows. Save your money for other similar better polished titles.

Early Access -arvostelu
As of right now, this game crashes. A lot. Let's just get that out of the way. It also auto-saves a lot, too. Sometimes a little annoying on the longer trips, but this is early access folks; not unexpected. If you fall into the niche this game is meant for, you'll love it.

I'm still experimenting with this game, but here are some tips:
  • Research the outer rings ASAP. Smuggling slaves is so profitable, you can just throw out max bribes for 80% success and still walk away selling 5 slaves for $25,000 profit. If you don't want to smuggle, you can also trade weapons legally for slightly less profit.
  • Missions are fun, but the rewards need to be rebalanced. Just keep in mind the starter ship is very slow, and you're going to need speed to complete a lot of the more rewarding missions.
  • Space combat doesn't have any appeal right now past destruction missions, so if you're intercepted randomly, just save your ammo and Flee. The restock costs aren't worth it.
  • Room effectiveness depends entirely on placement. Map out your crew's routes hypothetically and place bathrooms, food, and recreational along the way.

I'll cover the game, but first I need to talk about the developers.

This game is helmed by the best company/team I've ever encountered in a long time. They work & worked very hard on this SG2 which was even a joy to play incomplete in the earlier betas - constantly (like to the point of how do you get any work done?) reading, replying, and participating in forum discussions. They entertain ideas for how to approach planned features & possiblities of integrating new ones. This game is far from done in their eyes, and we are all excited to see how SG2 evolves over the long run.

Oh yeah, the game: The graphics are awesome. The difficulty is varied enough to appeal to everyone (I'm in the extreme club, and find it quite challenging at times). You feel the constant itch to explore as available ship components, slot enhancements, crew officers, mercenaries, and new ship models differ between areas - and buying a ship direct from the manufacturer is cheaper than buying 3rd party from a different faction.

Don't want to or can't buy a ship (because that faction hates you)? Grind rep and switch sides, or just board and capture the ship for yourself. Want to mine asteroid fields? You can do that. Want to capture ships and sell them for millions? You can do that too. Want to hunt down obsure achievements? They're here.

And this game is only going to get better.

+/- Slow start - it's very hard to begin classing up in ships, especially for new players. There are guides, but there is a bit of a grind. I like the payoff feeling from earning your way. Others will just go get a mod that gives them 1 billion credits. I suggest learning.

Negative
- Voice acting (there is a mod that improves a bit).
- Illegal goods priced roughly equivalent to expensive legal goods.
- Trade market prices could be more varied for better profits.
- Few factors past pool numbers for shields and hulls.
- Unrealistic aggro (2 gunships will "think" they can take on your dreadnought and rip you out of cruise speed).

Invisible, Inc. is a rougelike, stealth-based, infiltration/espionage turn-based game which takes place in the 21st century, but it has a really rustic Cold War feel to it (which is awesome). You are given 2 agents and 2 abilities to start, and additional abilities and agents are unlocked through an XP system. Agents have stats and 1 special innate ability. Their stats are raised using the funds you are able to extract from the stages. However you will come across Fabrication Stations within stages which sell advanced abilities and equipment for your agent, so as in FTL, you'll need to make tough decisions on when to spend and when to save. Although you can acquire guns to outright kill guards, ammo is expensive & unless you're stunning or sleeping them you will quickly be overwhelmed by reinforcements.

The polish level for the final release is outstanding. Don't pass this one up.

Nice take on the tower defense genre. The game is fairly micro intensive on most levels, especially later on. The game manages to keep the pressure on with a thrust system which moves you along a linear track with timed runs. Thrust takes up the same space your guns do, so a significant amount of planning is required. The first few missions are very easy to get perfects playing it by ear, but the later levels will require you to take into account which waves come from which direction when, what sorts of defense is needed, and how much thrust you need to maintain during replays. Content-wise the game is a bit light at the moment. Hopefully, this game will be expanded upon with free updates or some significant DLCs. 7 out of 10.
