While Endless Sky is an obvious spiritual successor to the Escape Velocity games, there's also a feeling of, "this is only the beginning". Only one of the main three story lines has been implemented so far, and there seems to be the potential for more triggerable missions and alien interaction, but even with just the skeleton there and usable, it's a fun game, but it's also very obvious that the content is only starting to be made by a wide variety of contributors through its Github.

And that's probably the best part, not only is Endless Sky good, it's also free as-in beer and free as-in speech.
