Undertale is a game that has an incredible amount of love and care put into making it. It's the kind of game that immediately teaches you to approach it in unusual and creative ways, as pretty much every battle and character interaction is, in itself, a sort of puzzle. There's so much incidental dialogue; if you're the sort of person who enjoys repeatedly talking to every NPC in an RPG to see every last line they say at every point in the story, you'll be delighted with how much of that is in Undertale. The writing strikes a really good balance of genuine emotion and humor. I've probably laughed more at this game's jokes than almost any other game I've played.

I've always been a big fan of Toby's music, and this game's soundtrack doesn't disappoint at all. So many of the tracks are instantly catchy and specific tailored to the mood of the scene, with some tracks feeling very sentimental and nostalgic. I've been looping the soundtrack for awhile now.

Every single part of this game feels so deliberate and carefully put together. Not a single part of it feels like a throwaway, like, you can tell that every interactible object had some amount of thought put into its description. You don't really see "It's a door. It's a trash can. It's a window. There's nothing special here." repeated ad nauseum. Rather, checking out every single object in every room is part of the game's character. Even that cactus in the bedroom feels like it has a personality.

I really like this game. I think you will too.
