it's a decent entry into monster hunter. not the best, not the worst.

a lot of the qol and damage buffs make the game a bit too easy before HR20 (well into high rank) -- it didn't feel like monster hunter to me until then. you lose a lot of the high adrenaline moments of being 20 minutes into a fight and worrying about getting killed. you jump straight to endgame, where wiping just feels like a skill issue and not a challenge to overcome

that said, this game also requires a nice computer to run. it's super unoptimized, and runs poorly on anything. i have a 4090 and a 14900k and it can run the game fine with frame gen, but needing framegen for this setup is worrisome.

to me, it feels a bit more like diablo 3, where the focus is on efficiency and farming, rather than previous entries (world and before) that felt a bit more like a fight for survival and overcoming a challenge.

i am still having fun; it just feels a bit different than previous monster hunters, that's all
