Fun game. Lacks a bit of content for a 1.0 release and the difficulty curve of the game is nonexistant, its just a flat line and it gets easier the longer you go on.

Cannot recommend this game in its current state.
It absolutely in no way shape or form looks like a game thats been in development for 11 years.
It still at 1.0 looks and plays almost identically to how it did 4 years ago in Alpha 19. The fact that these dev think this game is worth 45 dollars in a world with games like Subnautrica, PZ, Valheim, Enshrouded, etc. is insanity. Buy it for 10-20, no more.
Also the 1.0 release is a sham, it is missing quite a few things they promised for it. It's obviously just a move so that they can sell DLC.

Early Access Review
Total unimaginative rip off of Phasmo.
Yes it looks better, and if graphics are all that matter to you then I guess you can get something out of this.
Otherwise, it is tedious, has a fraction of the content of Phasmo currently, and is not nearly as fun.

Solid first outing from Portkey Games. The combat and environments are the highlights of this game. Wand combat is surprisingly fun and the environments and world are filled with love and detail. However the weak elements of the game are the writing and RPG elements. The stories, side and main are mostly all quite forgettable as are your friends and side kicks. There is one standout side quest chain, but it stumbles at the end. The RPG elements, the talent system, dialogue choices, and equipment systems are all incredibly shallow and half-baked and can be totally ignored as they have no or next to no impact on your gameplay or story. The overworld is filled to the brim with copy-paste, Ubisoft-style chores, which can be fun just as excuses to cast more spells and engage in the combat, but the trials and puzzles(some of these magic-based ones are inventive) are mostly braindead and lead to lackluster rewards, and again can and should be skipped.
Great bones to work here from moving forward, but needs some depth and a better story, with those the inevitable sequel could be quite something.

I will leave the critique of the systems to those who know far more than I do, but lets just leave it at, the Warfare system is an opaque mess, and the economy system becomes incredibly tedious with how it works together with the tech system.

The main reason I am not recommending this currently is due to performance issues. The game becomes unplayable once you get to a certain stage. FPS drops, hitching, and crashes galore the closer to 1900 you get.

I dunno. Maybe grab it on sale. What it is saying and doing now is not nearly as insightful and satirizing as what it was saying a decade ago. Can't really say I enjoyed my time with it. Was just bored.

Really cool idea. Free so can't complain, but if this game adds more content, bit more depth, gets better balanced, it will easily be worth 10 to 20 bucks

Amazing gameplay, probably the best FPS gameplay I've experienced. Doom 2016 I remember getting off to a slow start and an overextended ending. This game fixes the ending, however the beginning is still a slog until you get a few weapons to play with and get through all the tutorials. Doom needs to be simple, keep expanding on the gunplay, cut down on the RPG elements. Story is interesting, but totally skippable if you dont give a ♥♥♥♥. Music is amazing as per usual and idtech engine is a work of art making this game look amazing and run flawlessly even on my few year old system at 1440p 144hz.

Much better than at launch. Much more to do/see/explore. However game is incredibly shallow. The devs continually add more content to the game for free (which is great), but what it really needs is more complexity added to the systems already implemented. The difficulty is through the floor even on permadeath modes. You will not be racking your brain at any point figuring out a crafting workflow or trying the increase your efficiency. It is a super casual game, pretty much a sightseeing adventure. Which isn't bad, but don't go into this game looking for any depth like I did.
Same goes for multiplayer btw. You might think you could do things like share bases, craft multi person ships, create guilds and have guild freighters but no. Multiplayer is just the ability to emote at your friend and visit their base and do dailies together that are just as easy to do alone.
It's a solid turn off your brain game, with about 60 hours of content for the survival crafting enthusiast to explore before the game loses steam.

Fun game, but be prepared. You need quite a large and clear VR space in order to play this game without the constant fear/reality of smashing your hand/controller into a wall/bookshelf.
