Huge letdown for Fallout fans. Leveling up, interacting with npcs and crafting all feel great for about 5 minutes. It ultimately feels superficial as if it was all put into the game just to show off at E3.
Gone are the days of interesting dialogs with NPCs, you now have 4 options, and 90% of the time they all lead to the same outcome.
When leveling up you have options that make your character better and options that feel like a gimmic (which was fine in the old system as gimmics were seperate from proggression).
Crafting is like leveling up. You have upgrades that make your weapon better and upgrades that don't, but they might (might) make you chucle for a few seconds.

The crafting for your base feels like it was put into the game (again) just to show off at E3. What sense does it make in a game where you're supposed to be out exploring 99% of the time?
Getting the Power Armor and a mini-gun in the first 10 minutes of the game just to kill a Deathclaw right after takes away from the wonder of the world. If in the first 10 minutes I unlocked one of the best weapons, the best armor AND killed one of the most powerful enemies what challenge could possibly lie ahead?

I do apreciate the HUGE leap they made in visuals and in the combat system (which was probably the worst I have ever seen) but they do not make up for the huge, empty, charmless world.

Basicaly, as a trailer, this is a great product, but once you bite into it you realize what a huge piece of ♥♥♥♥ it really is.

I bought the season pass and only played through 1 and a half of the DLCs (the Nuka World one will probably remain untouched untill the end of time).

I didn't even know this game was coming out untill a few days ago. I clicked a video on youtube thinking it was some new Battlefield and I didn't realize it wasn't untill after watching half of the video.

I've played many Call of Duty titles and I've always felt like they had nothing new to offer and that they got progressively worse. I feel different about this title but it's hard to be sure when I only have access to some of the content. Anyway.

When I was playing this game I was telling my friends that this doesn't even feel like Call of Duty (and in a good way). I feel like they allowed themselves to change some stuff that were staples in previous titles in an efford to make the game better. Whether this is the case or not I cannot say. Also the sounds and graphics are amazing.

The combat feels much better! The guns feel nicer in a way that is difficult for me to put into words. I was surprised because they felt more difficult to handle than in previous titles but I saw this as a good thing.

I remember than in CoD:WaW the PPSh-41 was a shower of bullets so you could delete anyone who got into medium-short range. Not in this game. The PPSh-41 feels much more controled and it's harder to keep it on your target. This is merelly an example. Another example is the M1 Garand which is very strong because it kills in 2 shots but is pretty bad in most other regards.

I think you get more engaged with the gameplay since you actually have to try to use the weapons where in previous titles they almost fired themselves (like the Famas in CoD:BO - I actually really like CoD:BO). The guns also feel diferent from each other, not like in CoD:WaW where every seme automatic rifle (expect for the StG 44) felt pretty much like the same weapon. All the bolt action sniper rifles also felt like the same weapon in that game. I feel like other titles such as Battlefield 4 suffer from the same problem. In that game you have a huge selection of weapons but most of them play the same.

Now how much does this impact gameplay? I don't think I am the best person to determine that but I definitely apreciate that they've made the game this way.

The kill streak rewards are short and less impactful. Again I see this as a good thing. On CoD:MW2 I hated how long the rewards were. If someone got a reward you could be miserable for the next 1 - 2 minutes. The rewards still feel good to use but most importantly they're not boring to play against which I think is good for a more casual game like this.

This has been an all positive review so let's put some not so good stuff out there.

I had seemingly random FPS drops when I starter playing. I have a GTX 1060 and I started with the settings the game set for me but I changed the Anti Aliasing from the cinematic-thingy to FXAA. Then I would proceed to have smooth gameplay untill I randomly got a freeze. One time the game went silent for a second or two. This stoped when I turned off Anti Aliasing. To be safe I also turned down the Texture and Normal Map resolution from Extra to High so I don't know what caused the freezings, I was just glad they were gone.

I also don't think I'm the best person to give an opinion on how well this game is optimized for PC. I don't mind not playing with the absolute highest settings (I actually dislike a lot of the effects that many game include like motion blur) and I have a last gen graphics card. My CPU isn't so new but the game doesn't seem to care too much.

I have one fear for this game: that it will have the same short coming as Star Wars: Battlefront had. For me Star Wars: Battlefront fel great to play and it had great graphics and sound but it felt VERY shallow. Just after 2 hours of playing Battlefront I felt like I had experience everything there was to experience. This title has few weapons and the progression feels very fast.

On other CoD titles there was just more stuff. Game modes, weapons, weapon skins, equipment, perks, player cards, kill streak rewards even death streak rewards. There is a point to be made that many much of this was superficial and merely made you think that there was more to the game that there actually is (for example CoD:WoW had 5 sniper rifles but I only used one since they were almost all the same). But I can't help imagine that I'll buy this game and feel that it has very little to offer.

But for all that it is worth I have 4.4 hours of playing this game and I still feel like playing more where as in Start Wars: Battlefront I was sick and tired of the game.

I can't say "If you like CoD get this game" because it feels diferent from other CoD titles that I've played in the past. All that I can say is that I think this games takes many steps in the right direction, or at least that's how I feel as of writing this. I feel that 60€ for this game is way too much, but I know that I can't expect any different from a CoD title. If it was 30€ I would say definitely get this game if you like this type of shooters but at the current price and with my concern of the game feeling shallow after playing a while longer, I can't recomend it as strongly.
