Early Access Review
Not yet.

4 cars, 4 tracks. Run races online with players & bots, or single player with bots. No rewards, no upgrades, no progression.

I have a modest 3060, and the game ran fine at high graphic settings 1080p 60fps.

Look, Forza Motorsport (my reg) is barely worth $20. This is not worth $28 (current sale) yet.

It is sort of totally fine, some binding issues (no "reset car" under gamepad menu; but the workaround is that you can assign joybutton in keyboard menu). I just don't see any reason to play -- I'd rather going back to the original and continue the grind.

There's no minimap or course assistant (waypoint, checkpoint, racing line), you just have to memorize the courses.

Wreck, reset, wreck, reset, wreck, reset, haha I'm OP I put reset on the controller, I guess.

I did 3 single player races and 1 multiplayer. I have to ponder whether to return it or not before my 2 hours is up now.

In conclusion, I don't see how they can add enough content, namely progression, in only one year to attempt a full release. Sure, give it three years it might be close to when I first played the original.

It's an easy pass for me because of nearly unlimited ammo. I mean, it's limited, sure, but you're payload is dozens or hundreds of missiles, which is more than, say, 6. Just not able to role-play the least bit realistic role.

It's plant vs. zombies, one of the best casual games ever made.
This Steam version is not the best release available, there are no options for screen resolution.
The version through Origin may have better (or any) graphic options.

First the good: The enhancements of the culture feature.

The bad is the rest, and the worst is the cost.

The court and the artifacts seem primarily intended to be a gold sink, which is fine as it's easy to say to you need more ways to spend gold later on. But both the court artifacts and personal artifacts really don't add anything meaningful for me. [Something about using artifacts as C.B.s is interesting at least.]

I think the court interface is horrid. Ignoring the unforgivable GPU usage increase when you visit a court, I doesn't feel alive, and appears amateurishly tacked-on, particularly when you have to awkwardly exit the court screen to check the details of something e.g. on the map, like when it's being suggested you give out some specific title to reward a character, natural you might want to check out the details of the province if not also the characters family. While I actually do prefer minimalist graphics, the personal inventory looks like something from early 90's D&D games. It's arguable worse than CK2's gui's which were crude but lovable. The court's POV's are zoomed out such that you'll often be overlooking your prized boar's head as a smudge on the wall. Bothering to flip through the cameras is simply pointless; they are rarely satisfying views.

That's it. You got the court & artifacts -- court features I wish I could ignore, artifacts that you should ignore early game because they're just a gold sink. And then you have some great cultural enhancements. I'm tempted to say I'd be happy to pay $10 for the cultural features, but in reality I'd wait for the sale and get it for $5.

...so, not $30.

I don't review most of my games, but as a huge fan I have to do my little part in letting Paradox know this isn't okay.

Q: Master mode makes the notes invisible. What are your thoughts on Master Mode?
A: When I want to play without the notes, I don't use Rocksmith.

Q: How are the in-game recommendations for progressive learning?
A: Sorting by "recommended" is meaningless and useless. Even the recommended steps within Play A Song are very arbitrary.

Q: Why can't I see friends scores on the leaderboard?
A: Always struck me as obviously broken. I had been posting vids of my "world records" like "My Own Worst Enemy" with only about 95% on Master... easy enough as there was only one other entry who apparently did worse. Good thing that song isn't popular at all. Also, "Go Your Own Way" was an easy #1 for my first attempt with 87% on master. Easy because OF COURSE I was the only one in the world who had played it on master even a few weeks after release. The developers had never played it, why would they even. No, I'm just that special. Maybe I'm the only ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one with a capo, that must be it. /sarc

No one choose to comment on the phenomenal lack of skill required when I posted, however, so I guess I'm golden. /sarc

Q: WOW! All these minigame are great, amirite?
A: The minigames are neither here nor there. If you enjoy them, play them. Temple of Bends, for one, is notable, because bends are one of the harder techniques for THE GAME to score properly.

I'd have to suggest that clearing those games are best done regularly over time. If I did one Scale Warriors a day, maybe I'd have it by now. The games all have their own missions to clear levels. The interface is very slow if you need to check what those missions are, and I have to admit I have a lot of mental trouble tracking (remembering) more than one mission at a time. The interface is also slow, some games taking 30 seconds in between tries.

But the games should not be neglected for their techniques. I want to criticize almost all of them, but for the sake of the good, I have to highlight Temple of Bends. I've been play guitar for more than 20 years, which is to say I've play doing bends for over 20 years. Bends are not a difficult technique to learn at all -- at least outside the game. But, Rocksmith is very picky about detecting bends. My first two weeks in Rocksmith I thought bends were straight-up broken, or just somehow my guitar was crapping out. But Temple of Bends eventually saved the day, soon I was hitting them with nearly 100% accuracy. For bends you just need to practice and learn to do exactly what it's looking for and you'll make Rocksmith happy, which will make you happy.

Q: Riff Repeater allows you to lower both the speed and the difficulty. Which would you recommend?
A: Riff Repeater is fine, and virtually necessary, but there's far more value in playing at high difficulty and slow speed rather than low difficulty and high speed. In the latter case you're theoretically becoming an expert at playing the song wrong. Better to be slow and correct. Speed will build naturally over time.

Q: And Score Attack?
A: Score Attack Easy & Medium are also similarly learning how to play "wrong", but I wouldn't hold that against anybody *shrug*. Playing anything is far better than playing nothing after all!

It's worth between $15 and $20. If you're going to purchase it, do so asap. It's a fresh game, but that will wear off soon enough.

Mix and match music puzzle pieces. Simply boring. I can't play this for more than two minutes before feeling brain dead.

I've been playing ADOM since 1994. It is a traditional roguelike, and one of the very best.
